I can't turn on my Norcent TV with the power button. The power button is onhowever it won't turn green (to turn on power) unless I unplug from the outlet multiple times. It will eventually catch and come on.

Check your remote batteries.

I had a TV remote that would do some weird things when the batteries were dying, like the problems you describe.

Right now the standby 5vdc is working but it may have gone into safety shutdown due to failed power supply or shorted circuits in the backlight inverter board. You need to troubleshoot it to narrow down the causes first before buying the wrong parts.

Norcent Technologies PM-4201 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television that turns itself off within one second. Then the remotes don't work and I have to unplug the tv. Is the tv shot?

Sounds like the main power regulator board inside the TV is faulty. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

That might be a factory fault don't hesitate but to take it to the retailer if still under guarantee. Or phone the manufacture for a quick respond.
