take door off oven, usually has a catch on hinges when fully open then close to 80% and take off. Lay door flat on bench with handle overhanging bench. disassemble inner and outer. CLEAN reassemble. reinstall.
most likely you have bad door hinges if the door doesn't close correctly,i don't know if you know this but alot of parts are no loner available for this model,it must be old,the only thing you can get for the door is the hinges and that's it,you'll need the rest of the model number to get the right hinges you're missing the last two letters, you can go here put your model number in to look up parts. https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/JMW8527CAB/1266/0125300.html
go to door and look at part 16 the hinge, hope this helps you out, when you open the door,if it sags down lower to the ground the hinges are bad, when open it should be at a 90 degree angle
i believe after buying this oven that the left knob at turning clockwise position 1 is defrost which works by just blowing room temp air around, position 2 is oven on, position 3 is conventional grill must be used with door open and position 4 is fan grill can be used with door closed ,and the knob on the left is for setting oven temp and and turn fully round when using the grill to heat the grill
Hello- Many ovens use spring-loaded hinges to carry the weight of the door. Over time, these springs weaken or the hinge gets bent just enough to not fully close door. The door gasket can also become flat and stiff, compounding problem. Any small gap releases heated air, and oven will not heat up properly. Replacing the door springs should solve problem.- Thanks -Ed
Sounds like the oven door hinges have worn. If door is not obstructed in any way and will fully close when pushed but open about half a inch when released then it will be the hinges. Not sure of cost of spairs. I believe this to be a John Lewis Model. If it has a Enr no inside the door or inbetween the door hinges then I could give you price on spares
The usual reason for oven doors not closing properly, is weak door hinges,if it does not close all the way, and the door seal is o/k, then I suggest you replace both door hinges.
Please rate my solution.
Thamks.
the door switch contacts are stuck closed causing the oven to stay on.if you can access the door switch try to wd-40 on it.if that doesnt help you need a door switch.
