My Dirt Devil Kone will not turn on. It used to work, and looks like it charges (the light is on) but nothing happens anymore. I didn't drop it and am surprised that it simply doesn't turn on. Is there a way I can fix it myself?

sounds like it may be cross threaded , or bits of grit holding it tight ,try tapping round the rim with screwdriver handle to see if it will loosen anything that's holding it ,then get someone else to help you hold one end and you hold the other end and twist..
Hi Ross, sorry for this delay, but the email does not seem to be working, I will get on this as soon as I can and will efinatly have something for you shortly, been one of those days and I am not catching up yet.
A link is available to download the manual and to find replacement parts. If the part you require is not listed suggest you contact the company through their website:
Well first of all you may check that the charger (adapter) is working or not, you may use a volt meter to check it out or use another charger to make sure....... further you may follow the step below - 1. Remove the battery pack from Vacuum. 2. Hold down the power button for five seconds. 3. Reinstall the battery to reset the system. 4. Plug the Charger directly into vacuum. 5. Charge the battery untill the power light is solid green again and keep the vacuum on the charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Important: Do NOT interrupt this charging cycle. If further you have the same problem it means it's time to change the old battery with new one.

remove vac from charging base. twist the two section apart. it will turn about 1 inch and then pull apart. this will expose the filter to remove to empty the dirt. reassemble in reverse.
I have the same problem, after our building had a electricity problem. The electricity spiked when the utility company came to fix a problem. Several adapters in our apartment seem to be affected. Like my Kone, my dirt devil detailer had the same problem: charging light didn't come on, and while it charges, it only gets up to weak power. I got a new charger/adapter and when I plugged it into the base, the charging light was working again.
