Should try to transfer pictures to the computer through cable with card in camera. Make sure you have drivers installed from Casio.com for your camera.

I did connect the camera with a cable. The drivers seem to be OK, as when I update the drivers I receive a message that they are up to date.

If the camera doesn't work as specified, you may need service to the unit from Casio.

I'm trying to install the driver but always got errors.

From Casio:
This USB driver does not need to be installed for Windows XP. USB connection is possible simply by connecting the USB cable.

heres a link for the LV-10 viewer for XP

Hoew do i get my laptop to recognise my camera

Do not connect the camera to the computer. Buy a small card reader and use it instead. It will download the photos many times faster than the camera can.

Casio QV-40

To tell you the truth.....NO. You can buy a new casio camera for cheaper than fixing your old QV. Alot of times too the QV isn't going to be compatible with XP or VISTA.
