Hi,
Thank you for contacting Fixya. This is Anil.
I understand that the Netbook starts but there is not display on the screen.
It may happen due BIOS failure on the computer. Try updateing the BIOS. Updating the BIOS will require a USB flash drive to store the BIOS information on during the update. To perform the update to the BIOS:
Go http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/ and download the latest BIOS for the netbook.
Extract the files from the downloaded zipped BIOS file.
In the Dos folder, Copy Flash.Bat; Flashit.exe; Nav50.fd to the USB flash drive
Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged in.
Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together and press the power button.
When the unit's power light comes on wait a few seconds and release the Fn and Esc keys.
After the keys have been released the power light will start to blink.
During the BIOS update process the display will be blank.
Let the unit run and after approximately 1 to 7 minutes, the unit should reboot and the BIOS will be updated.
If the unit fails to reboot, or the BIOS was not updated sucessfully, try the steps again. If the unit continues to fail to reboot, the unit may need service.
I believe the above resolution should resolve the issue, however, if the issue still persists, please contact us. We will be glad to help you.
Thank you. Have Great Day.
Regards,
Anil.B.R

If there is still light on it there are two possible points of failure. But we need to isolate first if it is a hardware or a OS issue. To do this you need to try to boot to the BIOS.
> Restart the computer and tap on F2 continously until you see a setup screen or the screen saying loading system setup.
If is goes to the system setup, then the issue is with the OS. Try to boot to safe mode.
Restart the computer and then keep on tapping F8 until you get a black screen with white writings on it that says safe mode, safe mode with networking. Choose Safe Mode. If this works, you just need to reinstall the video driver.
If booting to the BIOS does not work, then the problem is hardware related.
Try to connect an external monitor and then press Fn + F5, if the screen shows up on the external monitor then you have a problem with the LCD screen of your portable. You need to have it replaced.
If It does not show up, you need to have the video card replaced on the laptop which is embedded on the motherboard which pretty much is the whole electronic component underneath your keyboard.
Unfortunately this means it will be more economical to buy a new laptop.
