The oil leaks out under the car - 1988 Ford Taurus

Gas or oil leak? Gas leak can turn the light on. Oil doesn't. Try to notice where the leak is under the car on the ground. Look under the car and see where the leak is on the frame. All this helps. Have the codes read.

Place packing paper underneath the car where it is leaking to capture some of the fluid and take that to a mechanic.

Did you ever find the source of the oil leak from under the intake?

A couple of leaks can be fairly large. An Oil Pan leak where you will see oil seeping down the sides of the pan and dripping directly below. The other is a Rear Main Bearing Seal leak and the oil will be coming from where the engine meets the transmission.

It very well may be comeing from under the engine, sounds like there is an oil leak that only leaks under presure and is leaking on to the hot exhast.

If you have no visible signs of oil leaking out of the engine then the oil is being burnt. By visible leaking I mean a small puddle of oil under the car after having been left overnight. This can be cured by replacing shaft seals and gaskets. Burning oil is visible as smoke under deceleration (no throttle) and under full power(flooring it). This is due to worn/old valve stem seals(smoke under deceleration) and worn oil rings(smoke under acceleration) This can only be cured by a major engine overhaul or engine replacement. Bear in mind that losing a pint of oil in 1000 miles is acceptable.

it could be numerous problems. First need to find out what are under the car is leaking and where it may be leaking from. You have a oil pan that could be leaking, the valve cover could be leaking and the oil running down making it look as if it;s from under the car. Is this oil or transmission fluid?

OK, 4.3 V6 ? Coolant leak is coming from under the oil fill cover ? , do you mean the oil fill tube ? Could be a bypass hose is leaking, or a manifold gasket is bad, need more info maybe, pics
