with the player, it is recommended that you only charge the player for 3.5 hours, no more cause you could ruin the lithium battery that is in it. It could be possible that you overcharged the unit if you went over 3.5 hours and if this is the case then it will not hold a charge.

You just connect it to a USB port on your computer or there is a wall adaptor available for them. You can get the charger at http://store.digiblue.com/Disney_USB_AC_Converter_White_p/ds21007.htm

You don't actually need the software. You can still use the Sync screen in Windows Media Player to add songs to the player without the software. The manufacturer has a PDF download of the manual at http://digiblue.com/customer-service/downloads/index.html

Be sure to try all the USB ports on your computer. The player will use all 500 milliamps that a USB port can provide to charge its battery. In most cases the back ports will provide all 500 milliamps to the player so try that. If you're using a USB hub then make sure you're connecting the player directly to the back of the computer instead.
If that doesn't work then take them back for a replacement or contact Digital Blue customer service for warranty replacement.

You don't need the disk that came with the Mix Stick. It's just a plug in that interfaces with Windows Media Player and it completely optional. Without the software you can still use the Sync function in Windows Media Player to synchronize songs to the player.
