If the oil pan is dented up to where it touches the oil pump the engine is not getting oil rockers are clacking . every time you start the engine you are damaging the bearings if they are not already gone you need to fix it right away drop the pan and bang out the dent with a hammer hope this helps

Have a 2006 chrysler 300, 3.5 with loud ticking noise during acceleration, also experiencing loss of power. Replaced both rocker assemblies and performance improved but ticking is still there.

sounds like bad valve seats or seals do you have a oil pressure gauge on your dash.check the pressure.then check your return ports on top of the head thats giving you the problem see if the oil is returning to the oil pan.sometimes the return ports become blocked and the oil stays on top of the head.and see if the oil supply is making up to the head.hope this helps.mark

Replaced oil pan gasket 2003 ford taurus with 211,000 miles. ran fine that night then next day rocker arms loose. i took off valve cover lifters are not collapsed. is valve springs wore can i put washers...

If this all happened after pan gasket change, chances are you knocked the oil pump pickup and the pump is sucking air. You've lost oil pressure. Fix that. Do NOT add washers. That's not your problem.

I have a dent in my oil pan, which seems to be causing a leak. Do i need to replace or is there a way to repair without replacing?

Most likely you just need to replace the Oil pan seal. A dent normally doesn't cause a leak. If the pan is cracked then yea, you will have to replace the pan. If it is leaking around the seal area it may have been knocked loose when you hit what ever dented your pan to begin with.

How do you remove the oil pan from a buick rendevous 2002. Have all bolts removed but oil pan is still up. How do you remove so you could take old gasket off and put new one on.

It's not uncommon for the oil pan to get stuck. This usually happens if the gasket was not put on correctly and gunk gummed up the seal, essentially gluing it in place. Use a small nylon, wood or leather covered hammer and tap around edge of pan. (use a lot of light taps to avoid denting the pan). Continue tapping until oil pan comes free. Don't try to pry off as this will deform the pan causing an uncontrollable oil leak.

Vortec 4.3 Ticking that is present at start-up and speeds up as I accelerate, what would cause this?

If you have good oil pressure, a few things come to mind, first it could be a loose rocker, secound it could be a woren or broken rocker, third it could be a weak or calaps lifter. If it sounds like its lower in the engine like around the oil pan it could be a rod or maine problem. But you say its a ticking noise witch leads me to believe its a valve trane problem.

While running engine runs hard. Also tapping or ticking sounds after installed new oil pump ,pan and gasket. I've been told is the lifters. So Ive tried lucas oil stablaizer, Mystery oil and CD2 still...

If you have an adjustable valve train you may need to adjust the rocker arms. Remove the valve covers and look to see if there are adjusting nuts on top of them. If so, get a shop manual and a feeler gague and a couple of wrenches and screwdriver and follow instructions in manual carefully.
