Does not support SIM card

Confirm the device is not locked to an opposing carrier, that the SIM is activated by a carrier, and perform a restore through iTunes. If that fails the device may need to be replaced.

I bought the iphone off a friend of mine as it was disabled and he already has another phone... i restored the iphone using itunes which worked fine, however itunes then auto attempted to activate it...

This device will not preform any other function until it is connected to the computer with a valid SIM card in it. The device will then need to be activated with an AT&T (if in the United States) account. Only then will the device function normally

Hi there I have my sim card installed in my iphone but it says no sim first it stuck in activation mode and I tried to activate it by putting the sim card in and connect it to the itunes but I got error...

Hi there,

Firstly, because your phone is now jailbroken the software may now be faulty and you may have recurring problems with it.

But you should restore your iPhone as a new iPhone, it will wipe EVERYTHING, from the phone but it will also mean your working from a "clean" phone as it where, it will put it back to how it was from the day you took it out of the box.

Follow the details below to restore your iPhone as a new iPhone and then connect it back up to itunes with the sim inserted to activate it, also if you receive any messages on itunes about carrier settings, choose to update as these are what you need to have your network function. Although as I mentioned earlier, I cant guarantee you that your phone will be working and sorted as it is now jailbroken and doing this permantly alters the phones software.

Hope this helps (please leave feedback)

1 - Load up lateset itunes on your computer
2 - Power down your phone completely - swipe to power off
3 - Hold down the home button (circle button on front of phone) for around 6secs and still holding down connect to the computer
4 - When you receive a message on itunes saying that an iphone has been detected in recovery mode and needs to be restored. Continue with this
5 - On the summary page select the restore option
  1. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another. **dont worry if your not asked to do this, you are restoring your phone as new so a back up isnt needed**

  2. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you.

  3. Once the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up:

After a restore, the iPhone displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. Keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated." If iTunes does not have an Internet connection, you cannot complete this step.

My iphone model #A1241 got locked after I tried to download some music from itunes. I am only allowed to make emergency call and it is now asking to insert a valid sim card to activate

Firstly try your sim in another phone and see if it works...if NOT then the problem is with the sim and you need to contact your network provider. If it Does work then you will need to restore your phone as a new iphone wiping all data and re-activating it.

Hope this helps!

Use the following steps to restore your iPhone.

***** IF YOU CANT SEE YOU IPHONE IN ITUNES OR IT IS STUCK AT THE APPLE LOGO - POWER DOWN YOUR PHONE - HOLD DOWN THE HOME BUTTON FOR AROUND 6SECS WHILST CONNECTING TO ITUNES - RELEASE BUTTON - ITUNES WILL THEN APPEAR WITH MESSAGE SAYING IT HAS DETECTED IPHONE IN RECOVERY MODE & CONTINUE TO RESTORE YOUR PHONE - FOLLOW FROM STEP 6! ) *****
  1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and running before attempting to update.
  2. Connect your device to your computer.
  3. Select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
  4. Select the Summary tab.
  5. Select the Restore option.
  6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up option (as seen in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.

Are you using AT&T? If not the phone needs to be unlocked and "hacktivated". The mode your phone in now requires an AT&T SIM and iTunes to activate the phone.
