I have a Xerox c2424. I"m getting a blurry page. I have run the "eliminate white strips " and "remove print smears", as well as changed the maintenance kit. I get 1 good, clear copy and then a blurry one...then I have to run "remove print smears" again and then I get 1 good copy again..and then a blurry one. Any ideas?

Hi

Printers that use "toner" (dry ink) rely on heat from the "fuser" unit to melt the ink into the paper. If the "fuser" is becoming slow to "warm-up", then the toner is not getting properly melted into the paper.

i recommend you should change the fuser.

Thanks.

All the test pages come out fine-and the ink looks ok

It is only if I print an additional page that it comes out blurry.

1. Reboot the xerox machine.
2. Verify the lock arms rotate correctly.
3. Check for spilled ink around the printhead.
4. Check the process motor gears for damage. Ensure the process gears are correctly aligned and homed.
5. Verify the process gear box, process shaft, and drive module shaft are at home position.
6. Verify the headtilt gear will engage, see the home positioning procedure on page. You can manually engage the headtilt gear.
7. Run the Tilt Axis Drive test.
8. Run the Process Motor test.
9. Run the Head Maintenance Clutch test, if the test fails replace the clutch.
10.Run Wiper Drive test. If this fails inspect the wiper drive system.
11.Check the printhead as well.

    Rebooting now.

As for the rest, I'm a lay person, not a printer technician.

There is no spilt in-its a wax ink printer and the drum is clean.

It has to be something else.

    the test page is clear.

...and then I got 2 other clear copies...then a blurry copy.

Why is my Phaser 8400 leaving black smears on my printed pages and after running remove print smears, it doesn't correct the problem.

Have you looked at the roll in your maintenance kit? It may be dry in that area and not applying enough lubricant on the drum. Or you have some contaminant on the print head wiper blade or the mylar strip in the maintenance kit. Sounds like something is making contact with the drum causing your problem.

My xerox phaser 8560 is printing muted color

First off on your screen access troubleshooting, and perform the remove light strips and also remove smears and skips.
Next go to Xerox.com, under support and drivers enter 8560 in the search box. then go to the support page.
You want to look up the procedures for TEC color correction. And follow those steps.
If you are using a generic ink then, all bets are off in getting true color reproduction.

White lines will not go away in our Xerox C2424

Since you have done all that. That tells me you almost certainly have a bad print head.
They will clog or sometimes the jets get damages and it becomes impossible to pass ink through them.
I would say a bad print head is about a 99 percent probability.

Blurry Printing

Quite possibly, your Wave Amp board has failed. If so, it is more cost effective to purchase a new printer than to repair yours unless you can find used parts.

Currently, Xerox is offering a trade-up rebate on new solid ink printers.

Clean an 8400

Replace the maintenace kit and then in the menus run eliminate light stripes and eliminate smears.
There really isnt much else to do.
What you do when you run the light stripes and smears modes the machine removes all the ink from the print head, turns on a compressor and blows out the jets on the print head.
There really isn't a "cleaning " procedure as with a laser printer. If the maintenance kit is good, it pretty much maintanes itself.

Blurry Copies on Xerox WorkCentre C2424

There are three typical reasons for fuzzy text

1. Y-axis drum rotation problem.
2. Wrong drum temperature.
3. X-axis movement problem.

Sometimes the y-axis encoder will get oil inside and confuse the sensors, causing fuzzy/blurry print.

Most likely the drum assembly will need replaced.

Pinstripes in image after print (phaser 8560)

Appropriate cleaning procedures, as listed in the following tables, should be
performed when specific print-quality or paper transport problems occur.
All cleaning procedures are detailed in the printer’s Phaser 8400 Reference Guide or
the Phaser 8500/8550 User’s Guide.
Light Stripes or Missing Colors
Problem type Solution
Missing or light-colored
stripes on prints.
Select the automated procedure Eliminate Light Stripes from
the Control Panel.
Ink Smears, Oil Spots, or Random Ink Streaks
Problem type Solution
Ink smears on the front,
back, or edges of a page.
Select the automated procedure Remove Print Smears from
the Control Panel.
Check the maintenance kit for ink and paper-dust build-up on
the wiper blade.
Oil (drum fluid) on top edge
of print.
Select the automated procedure Remove Print Smears from
the Control Panel.

Xerox 8400 light printing

No, If one lamp goes out they both will not function. They do not have anything to do with print quality.
You may have a bad maintenance kit. but more than likely you have a bad print head.
Run the cleaning , eliminate stripes and eliminate smears modes. But more than likely the print head is bad. I would say a bad print head is about a 95 percent chance of causing your problem.
The halogen lamps only heat the drum, and if one was bad the machine would fault out with a 15,004 code.

8400 blurry print

I had a similar problem. I discovered that the imaging drum was too hot. There is a temperature sensor that rides on the drum surface to monitor the temperature. You can see it if you lift the exit cover on the right side. The sensor is white, and has a thin probe which rides on the drum surface. There's a single screw accessible from the right side which holds it in place. A hole on that side will allow a screwdriver (torx) to access the screw and the little unit can be removed (be patient- it can be done!). Clean the probe with some alcohol and replace it. The problem is caused when the ink on the drum smears because it's too hot. Dirt (wax and oil)under the sensor probe prevents contact with the drum, and makes the printer think the drum is too cold.
