B zone is only cooling to 49 degrees and leds at L3 and L4 are blinking at 1 second intervals at circuit card on outdoor condensing unit. Is there a service manual available for download?

  • Anonymous Aug 03, 2010

Does anyome actually read the problem before offering a solution? This is a comfortaire HMC18ad 2 zone minisplit system. The "A" side works fine putting out 29 deg f air. The B siode is only putting out 49 deg f air. The pc board on the outside un it is flashing at 1 sec intervals at L3 and L4.

I need a service manual. I have checked all of the sites that come up on google including calling comfort aire (they are a bunch of idiots).

The model you are referring to is made by Heat Controllers Inc. I cannot find the model that you have on their website. The closest I get is MMC18DA-1.

Is this your model. Refer the manual available from Comfort-Aire website. If you have the unit made by Energy Knight then the model number you have HMC18AD-1 is correct.

Please clarify.

Sorry, Please ignore my earlier posting. We don't get to see responses of other consultants on the fixya site and this causes confusion.

I will keep looking and help you if i can.

    sorry for annoyance.

  • Sam Aug 05, 2010

Just to help further with this, provided you give me the benefit of rating my solution favourably.

I know there have been other consultants who have given you a run around, but it is hard when we are all eager to help the clients but do not have access to what the others have posted. This is the way the system has been setup and most of us are just volunteers trying to help the community where we can.

Now coming to the point, the model HMC18AD-1 used to be made by EnergyKnight who may at some stage have been taken over by Heat Controllers and have changed the model numbers. Atleast this is why people are trying to write to you confirming the model no.

I am assuming you are very good at servicing aircons and will therefore not bother you with details on what could be the fault you are experiencing. You asked for service manual and I will help you get it.

I have a service manual for the single zone version which should give you enough diagnostic information because I would assume the dual unit would have two compressors.

I have the parts & assembly list for your 2 zone system and the electric circuit diagrams. I am hoping this will help you.

Best to print or save these documents when you open the links. Never know when they can disappear.

In addition I have also listed the website which has all the Heat Controller system manuals. They don't have the service manual for your model but there is a current model which should be similar.

  • Sam Aug 08, 2010

I noticed you have taken refund from fixya for your problem. It is unfair after I got you the service manuals which you had asked for in your problem enquiry. We are mostly volunteers trying to help the community and don't make much money compared to the effort put in responding. But it is the fairness that matters.

Hi

The L3 and L4 lights are blinking means that the filter is dirty and obstructed. You’ll need to clean the filter. Also Inspect whether the evaporator air is blocked, remove the blockage. Check the air intake and outlet ducts of the condenser side are obstructed. Check both of the ducts. Check whether the unit is set on dehumidifying mode. Set at cooling mode, Set at low fan speed Re-set the fan speed at high speed and check.

However, if this doesn't help then it might have happened that the compressor is not runing and the connection to the compressor is cut. Please check the wiring diagram on Pg 22 in this manual---

Comfort-Aire Air Conditioner Manual & wiring diagram

Please post back for any further assistance. If you are satisfied please do accept the solution.

Hi

You can download the manual at the website below

www.kaelte-bast.de/dateien/euro/pdfs/asr609-612cl-ser.pdf

i bought a replacement t-stat, that did the trick. the idea i of taking out the t-stat temp coil and moving it out from the condenser coil seems like a worthy enough idea, although my replacement t-stat only cost me 30 bucks and a half hour..

You should make sure your compressor coil is very clean, by blowing it out with air and vacuuming it out. Making sure there is no ice built up anywhere on your coils, and making sure your door seal is air tight.

Thanks

I checked these sites before signing up for this Fixya session. Neither site contains service manuals for the HMC18AD mini split units. This info is of no help to me.

- The alarms saved in the memory are erased
5. Switch off the appliance.

My carrier ac if i on the unit it will show green light 9 times blinking after off then 2 sec on green light again 9 times unit is not working

You have to try resetting the system. First turn the breaker off for the condenser and wait about 20 seconds. After you turn it back on the system should reset. If that dosn't work then you should contact a professional.

How do i wire pressure switch 034-0195

Just put in series after the switch before the wirings
go to the electric motor. Put the two electrical wires
to L1 and L2 (Line In). L1 must be with normally closed ontact L3 while L2 must be with L4. (L3 and L4 - is Line out) for the motor terminal wires. Before connecting wires at L3 and L4, Check for continuity at L3 and L4. Set the muti tester at 1 x 10 Ohms..Then put the multi tester probe on it. The reading must be infinity or no reading at all. Then
connect the motor wires at L3 and L4.
