Question about Samsung SGH-D840 Smartphone

Java errors, cant read files

Hi I just bought one of these and downloaded the pc suite from samsung. I got a 2gb card and downloaded some music. I cant seem to play anything off the card unless i copy it to the phone. Is that normal? surely not.
Also I have downloaded lots of java games and apps that are apparantly for this phone but it just keeps saying the file is not reconized.
Thinking about taking it for a refund. It looks nice but I cant get it to do anything.

Top Banana! Not used it for ages but pulled it out the draw, dusted it off and followed your instructions and now it all works like any other phone. 5 stars my man!

1. Copy the .jad and .jar files to the 'Other Files' folder on the phone.

You can copy the files from Samsung PC Studio's 'Phone Explorer', Windows Bluetooth File Transfer or just copy it straight to the memory card and move it over to 'Other Files' from the phone's menu.

2. Exit all menus and type in this code: *#9998*52824678255#. (*#9998*JAVAINSTALL#)
You should now get an 'Activated' message. Java install is enabled.

3. Go to the 'Other Files' folder and select the .jad file.
Press 'Options' (left touch key) and you should get a 'Do you want to install' question.
Press 'Yes' to install.

4. To deactivate the Java install, simply type the same code again.
You should now get a 'Deactivated' message.

Apparently the E900 is similar except the code to install is *#9998*5282# -> install MIDlet password: 235282

Hi,

Erase unnecessary data on you phone memory, even you have a lot of space on you SD card, still the phone memory need to maintain enough memory to perform or play the music, check your phone memory free space and save at 2MB and for sure it will gonna play the music.

The original Blackjack will not recognize anything larger than 2gb. Sorry, but you just wasted buying those 4 gb. cards. I found this out the hard way too when I bought my daughter a 4gb card for her Blackjack. I have a BJ2 which will recognize the 4gb cards.

I have a samsung SCH-r450 messenger phone that is supposed to play mp3's. I cant seem to get the darn thing to play. I finally figured out how to get them downloaded onto my memory card, but the phone...

Try this:
Pu the card in the phone, and turn on the phone.
Turn the phone back on and remove the card.
Plug back into the computer and look for the music folder.
put all your mp3s in there and remove it from the computer.
Put it back in the phone and turn it back on.
It should now find all of your music.
Good Luck!

Samsung gravity music player help

hello all

i recently got the samsung gravity as well and had a 4gb card for it and got the same problem.... from what i have found its not the size of the card its that the phone does not support the (HC - high capicity) micro sd card. I went down and bought a regular 2gb microsd card and popped it in and it works fine. also all you have to do to put music on the card is drag(from your pc) and drop into the music folder(on the sd card). hope this helps. have a great day!!
