DVd Player Rotel RDV-1045 Restricted to Region1. I wish to access Region 4(New Zealand). How do I convert to Region free access. Thanks Don Simcock

There may be nothing you can do aside from getting a dvd player that does play dvd's from that region. You can get multi region dvd players below

Could not locate this model but this may help:

Power up the Player, press pause;
Type in 314159 on your Remote Control's Keypad;
This should bring up the Region Selection Screen;
Select the Region (1-6) that you wish to view on your Remote Control's Keypad, sit back, and enjoy ;-)

Two important features with this player.

Firstly, in addition to the first hack listed above, instead of choosing a Region 1 through 6, you can choose to set it Region 0, or region free. This means you will not need to change it every time you put in a disc of differing regions.

Also, if your TV is not capable of both NTSC and PAL playback, you can adjust the format of the DVD player signal by flicking the System Select switch on the rear of the player. Without changing this, the region free hacks listed above may not display correctly if you are using an older TV


To enable VCD, it works for this model as other LG players:

1. Power on the player with no disc in the drive.
2. Press Pause on the remote control.
3. Using the remote control, key in the following: 1, 4, 7, 2 (the
characters 01 47 should appear on the display) [If your player is a non UK
model, this number will probably be different - don't worry]
4. Press the UP arrow three times (the characters 04 Fd should appear on the
display)
[This number may be different depending on the configuration of your
specific model - don't worry]
5. Press Program, 6, Program, 5 (the characters 04 FE should now be
displayed).
6. Press Enter (the display should flash briefly).
7. Press Return.
8. Power the player off and then back on.
9. Play a VCD!

Unfortunately, the DVD laser diode is probably faulty. a separate laser diode is used for reading CDs so these still work. The laser unit will require replacing.

To check the software version and change
region code of your DVD Portable

1. Power ON the DVD player and open the DVD
door
2. Press the “SETUP” button on remote control,
then select the “Preference MENU”
3. Press the remote button in the sequence as
9 -> 6 -> 5 -> 3
4. The LCD display showed the existing region
code. Press (navigation up) or
(navigation down) repeatedly to select the
number from 0 to 6.
5. Refer below table for your region code setting

yes there are code that you can use to open the region of your DVD player to play multi region disc. But your supplied remote can not do the job. Normally I use factory service remote to free the region of all panasonic DVD player.

The only thing you can do is ask a help from a qualified service technician, I may reffer you to "Next electronics" this is electronic service center within newzealand and ask them if they can convert your DVD player to play mullti region disc. If only your close to my place i would defenitly help your problem.
