Why wont it work?

When I plug my SimpleTech SimpleDrive portable 160 GB external hard drive into my iBook G4, it doesn't show up on my desktop. It just keeps on clicking, and I can't seem to figure out why its not doing anything. Does this have to do with the power supply?

I have a 80 gb simpletech portable hard drive. I plug it in and I can move the info onto it, but I don't know how to get the info transferred to a different computer? Mine never say anything?

Actually, I figured out the solution on my own. Its far more simple than that. It has a two pronged USB cord for a reason, you have to plug both ends into two adjacent USB ports in order for it to work.

The problem is that "simple" has NTFS format to acheive the MAX speed. In order to be compatible between
PC and MAC and other the external devices like DVD player with USB input , the disk should be reformated to FAT32.

Doesn't seem that "Simple" if you ask me. I don't think PC hard disks are compatible with Mac's. you might have to get a Mac compatible External HD.

My hard drive quit showing up on my mac desktop and i am not able to access any of the files. the red light still turns on when i plug it in but thats it. i tried plugging it into a pc to see if it would...

It sounds like the hard drive died.. If it won't show up on two different operating systems, then it's more than a simple computer reboot. You may want to try a local repair store and see if they have any luck backing up the drive.

SimpleDrive external USB Disk Drive

You may not see any icon on desktop but should see "found new hardware" at the bottom right by the time. Right click My Computer and click Manage. Under Storage click Disk Management. You should find your drive here. If its a new drive, no letter may be assigned or it may not be partitioned or formatted yet. Right click on the drive to format it and to assign a drive letter. If its already formatted and works on other computers, let me know because it could be a USB error or faulty cable.
