Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Amana refridgerator i live in harvey, la... after katrina i had to replace my refridgerator. i bought an amana bottom freezer fridge... so far the fan that blows air to the refridgerator has gone out... it was covered under warranty since it was just past the time and the repair man said they used cheap plastic fans from the factory at that time... now the water has stopped in the dispencer and the ice maker... i replaced the filter... which i didn't think was the problem... and as it turns isn't... seems the pump that moves water is either bad or clogged... where is the pump...i have not pulled out the fridge to search for it yet and is it easy to get the part??? any help would be greatly appreciated... this refridgerater is less than 3 yrs old.....thanks... kirk

Water valve is in the rear on the right side at the bottom
unbolt it from the ref frame and pull it outward remove the hoses the white plastic ones place a pan under the valve and depress the qater in the door paddle if water comes out of the valve then it is good if no water out of the valve verify the voltage to the valve if 120 to the valve then replace the valve
if no voltage problem lies in the wiring harness or the despensor mech. has a problem

Hi there.I have an Amana Side by Side Refridgerator. We are having a problem with the fridge side not cooling enough. The Freezer side is working well.Have you any tips on how to fix it myself ?Cheers.

Check fan which blows cool to fridge compartment is working. Check fridge is defrosted automatically. If not do it manually and check, there will be cooling in fridge compartment. Over frosting will cover up the fan throw behind the freezer. If not auto defrost works, switch off and restart after 5 minutes. Still auto defrost problem, do it manually or replace board.

The access cover for this type of refrigerator is in the refrigerator section, you must remove the screws and the cover will slide out, if the fan motor is not turning or you have ice build up , you need to replace the fan motor, because it is not working properly, a new motor will allow the air to circulate and this should correct the cooling problem.

Refridgerator not cold but freezer working fine

okay this is what you check for, is your freezer back panel covered with ice, if it is then take the panel off and check your heaters for continuity and look at your bimetal thermastat.
another checking point is do you hear the fan running, if not then you need to replace evaporator fan.

Refridgerator not cooling, but freezer is freezing

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.
