Dns-323 automatically shutdown few seconds after startup
My dns-323 automatically shutdown few seconds after it finished the start-up routing. after it shutdown itself, no chance to turn it on using the power button. the only way to turn it on is by unplugging the power supply. once power was applied, it will automatically turn on, then same thing it will shutdown itself after completing the startup. it has 2x1TB WD caviar green. i tried only 1 harddisk on different slot and without harddisk, same result. i already did a factory reset, same result.

If you disabled the firewall and the Easy Search utility still can't find it, you could try searching for the answer in the device's user manual: Link DNS 323 manual
well first off, i don't think you have a dns changer, that would simply render your internet useless. when you get a blue screen what error message are you getting? i'd try and unplug the computer and remove the cmos battery. wait for like 10 minutes and plug it back in and try again.you can download the windows recovery console from microsoft, just do a google search.
if you can, hit start, if it is xp hit "run", type "shutdown -a" without the quotes, then hit enter. you will have to do this fast before the 10 seconds. if it is vista just hit start, then type "shutdown -a" and hit enter. if you are quick enough, the shutdown will abort. now, go to the startup folder in start>all programs>startup and delete anything there if you don't know what it is. this might stop it from happening again. someone might have put a shutdown command in the folder as a joke. it could also be a virus. so if this fixed it, download spybot search and destroy and run a scanmobile crusher http://www.lzcrusher.com
I had the same problem when I was attempting to map the drive using the hostname of the DNS-323. I solved the problem by typing in the IP address instead. Do the following:
1. Login to the DNS-323 as admin
2. Make sure you use static IP's to make sure that the address does not change in the future.
3. Go to the drive mapping page and use IP address instead of hostname in the drive mapping (e.g. \\192.168.1.1\Volume_1)
4. Make sure you use a valid username and password.
5. Check the connection configuration by clicking on the Test button.
You should get a successful outcome, otherwise check all the settings again until you are successful
The USB port on the D-Link DNS 323 NAS is for a printer only. It won't work with your WD TV. Your best bet would be to plug the WD TV into a PC that is connected to your network along with the D-Link DNS 323 NAS and serve your media files that way.
