Driver wireless notebook

An internal wireless card lets you access the Internet and a home or corporate computer network without the hassle of using an Ethernet or other type of network connection.

The wireless card grabs the communication signal flowing throughout the air and processes the signal through your Gateway PC's Windows operating system so you can access websites, email and related Internet-based services.

But like other devices in your computer, you must turn on the internal wireless card in your Gateway PC before using it.

Turn on your computer, if it is off.

Press and hold the "Fn" key on your computer's keyboard.
Press the "F2" key in the upper row of keys on your keyboard.

The wireless Internet card's connection utility will start searching for a wireless signal.
Connecting to a Signal

Click "Start," "Connect To."
If your Gateway PC is running Windows 7, click on the Windows symbol on the taskbar. Click "Control Panel," "Network and Internet," "View network status and tasks."

Click on the wireless connection you want to connect to.

If using Windows 7, click on "Connect to a network," then click on the wireless connection you want to connect to.

Click "Connect." Enter the wireless connection's network password (SSID), if prompted. Click "Next."

Click "Connect Anyway," if prompted with a message about the connection not being secure.

Click "Close." Open your Gateway PC's Internet browser or email application to start using the Internet connection.

Just bought a used gateway laptop model#m320s3400335 and cannot get internet access through a wireless network or online at all.

SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION
First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick.
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.

If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.

Compaq Laptop Windows 7 Acess Point Problem att 2wire

use wired Ethernet, so it works. easy.
wifi is far more complex.
best is to own the router, you have.
then login to it and set it up for wpa./wpa2
wep off.
and a nice password for wifi so others cant hack it. in the hood.
then use those credentials all all your toys. xbox, PCs and cell.
that is the best way
the access point is covered in you manual for the router
there is AP button there, you push.
the PC in question my guess is the drivers are no good.
missing wrong, or corrupted.
no PC full model stated.
no OS stated
no router stated.
so answers will be weak to wrong,.

Yes. You need to configure the router. Most of the new routers come with a cd that will guide you. You can also call ATT and they will guide you as well.

Hope that helps you.

Pvs connection

I had AT&T internet service with the 2-Wire wireless router (combined modem and router). You probably might have been given an installation CD but that often does not work well. You should be able to interface directly with the modem or router with your web browser possibly (http://gateway.2wire.net), and see the status of the connection, although to talk to these devices you must put in a username (usually "admin") and a password to enter the interface.

Your best bet is to actually call the technical support for the Internet service. Look on the AT&T paperwork you go with the modem or modem+router or any billing statement that show the possibly 877 number for HighSpeed Internet technical support. They will walk you through step-by-step until you get your connection; listen carefully to the often heavily accented voice. It usually never fails.

Internet promplems

for dial up simply a modem .... on laptops if you do not have a builtin modem you can purchase a pc-card modem that goes into your pcmcia slot ... for highspeed either a ethernet (same option as modem) but almost all modern laptops have a built in ethernet ... or usb ... also I highly recommend a router if you are going highspeed ... even if you only have one computer ... a router will protect your system because it provides a NAT firewall. If you go with a router make sure to set up the internet connection on the router do not tunnel through the router with a PPPoE connection
