Please turn camera off and then on again after a couple of seconds

I got this message all the time I use the camera, "Please turn camera off and then on again" after a couple of seconds. Do you know how to fix this problem or what is causing the problem?

My daughter dropped her Lumix and this problem then occurred, I researched it on the Internet, and found various suggestions. e.g. apply slight pressure to the lens when the camera starts, wipe outside of lens, remove batteries etc. etc. etc. etc..
I tried everything - every time the camera was turned on the message appeared.
So I took out the batteries and sd card and stuck the camera in a drawer and bought a new camera.
Now the interesting bit - one month later, out of interest, I got out the camera, stuck in the battery and an old SD card (I used the Lumix card in my new camera) - AND it started up with no problems!! The problem had gone away - why - different SD card? Some internal memory finally "forgot" it had a problem?, perhaps it just had a long rest? - no idea.
Anyway its OK now, and I now have 2 cameras.
Weird - thank goodness I did not bin it!
So don't dispare - try it - it may work for you.
ps. With the original sd card in, it still works ok.

Panasonic Lumix TZ3 began Plese shut down turn the camera off and back on again" after every picture of after being on for around 20 to thirty seconds. If I was able to take a picture, it would be displayed up-side-down.. The jpg was correct when downloaded. This happened 16 days after I purchased the camera. (2 days after the return period). I was able to exchange the camera for another, and everything seemed to work, then I began to get up-side-down images again. The only items were the old battery, (freshly charged) and the old memory stick. I was unable to locate a Service Center contact for Panasonic that was of any help. Any suggestions? The camera worked great for the first two weeks I had it, but the same problems with a new camera has me stumped.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:
