Electronic ignitors won't stop clicking

After my wife cleaned the range top, now the electronic ignitors click non-stop even when the control knobs are turned off. The burners will ignite, but the ignitors still click and won't turn off.

Pull the burner caps, etc off the stove and completely dry the area ..Be sure to inspect each ignitor contact for cleanliness as well. If the ignitors have soapy buildup or water, around them, they can act like this.
You should be able to pull the burner caps and flame diffusers off and clean with a paper towel, and if needed, a light scouring sponge. Be careful not to scratch the surfaces, but scour the top of the ignitors carefully if you need to clean them.

The electric igniter continues to click (ignite) even after the stove top burner is lit.

The switches for the ignitor are in the control knobs for turning on the gas...does the unit do it on all burners or just 1...if just 1 then the control switch assy will need to either be cleaned or replaced

Electronic ignitor won't stop clicking even with everything off

One of the top burner switches is stuck in the ON position. Remove a wire from each one until you find the one that is stuck. themobilian_211.jpgNote: On newer models you simply replace the whole wiring harness. Check this video out:

We are cranking up this BRAND NEW Vulcan flat top. Weh have the convection oven below up and running, but we can't even see a pilot light for the flat top. Advice anyone? Culinary-yours Chef Geir

older ovens have pilots but the newer machines are electronic ignition, there are ignitors in the oven and electrodes or ignitors on the top burners, when you turn the knob for the burner you should hear a clicking sound and see a spark around the burner, that's what lites the burner, the gas comes in and the spark ignites it,i don't know much about your machine but it can't be any different from other stoves.if none are sparking there should be a spark module in there or they could have separate modules,if you send the full model number i can look it up for you

When i turn on the oven the top hobs keep clicking on my canon cooker

Hello Brian
Welcome to Fixya.

You said, when you turn on the oven the top knobs keep clicking on my canon cooker.

If you mean the electronic ignition keeps clicking when you turn the oven, It sounds like one of the switches that is controlled by the knobs, is stuck and malfunctioning! It sounds like it needs to be replaced.
There are 5 electronic igniter's on a 4 burner gas range, and the fifth is in the oven.

Let me know how you do.
Please remember to leave a rating when you finish.
Thank You, Huuum

Ignitors won't stop sparking

If your ignitors on the burners continue to click after cleaning it is because they are wet. The spark module is not sensing the flame is on therefore still telling it to click. Just leave all burners on high for 20 minutes until they dry out and stop clicking. The clicking is not dangerous. Just annoying. If they continue to click you may have some grease residue or cleaning residue on the ignitors. Take a piece of sandpaper, nail filer and file the tips of the ignitors where it has metal above the porcelain white part. Good luck.

Igniter

Does the knob control both the gas and spark, try turning on the knob only, if it starts to spark right away then it is possible that the switch is bad. because most of these units are designed where you turn on the gas then push in and hold the knob to ignite then release and spark should stop.
