I have a JKP62G K2 Wall oven and Microwave. It is an older unit and it works well when it works. The issue is with the Microwave. It does not start when you close the door without doing one of the following or a combination of the following: Jiggling the door, slamming the door several times or even holding the keypad down. Also sometimes it sounds like it wants to start for a second but then it stops. We usually get it started with one of these options but it is definitely finicky and annoying. Does the door switch need replaced or is the door misaligned? Also when the door is Closed it makes a clicking sound. Thanks, Doug

Yes Doug,
It does sound like your door switch need replacing. The sooner the better, or something may break if not immediate attention

I have a GE JKP62G microwave-oven combo. The oven works fine. The microwave blew the 15 amp fuse. When I replaced the fuse, per your earlier directions, and tried to use the microwave, the new fuse blew....

Cause 1
If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won’t start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don’t resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too

Cause 2

Main Control Board

The main control board might be defective. However, this is rarely the case. Control boards are often misdiagnosed—check all of the more commonly defective parts. If you have determined that all of the other components are working properly, replace the main control board.

Cause 3

Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse cuts off power to the microwave if the microwave overheats. To determine if the thermal fuse has blown, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. The thermal fuse cannot be reset—if the fuse is blown, it must be replaced.

Since its a electrical isue cal a liscenced professiona to resolve the issue . Your microwave oven isnt at fault . I belive the supplay to it has issue and would have blown anyway.

I can't figure out how to get my older roper microwave off the wall

If there is a grill above the door, remove it. There will be two long screws that attach the unit to a metal plate. The metal plate is bolted to the wall. Once you loosen the long screws, the unit will tilt down and come off the wall.

How do you replace microwave bulb in GE combo microwave and oven wall unit model # JKP86B0F7BB. I also need to know the type of bulb needed.

Hi,

To replace the bulb part number WB08X10012 you will have to either access control panel to microwave (its behind it) or pull the entire unit out of the wall enough to remove the side panel just behind the control panel. Either way you elect to enter unit please turn off power first for safety. Not an easy task to do, but possible if you able to change this yourself. Cost is high to have a service person do this due to liability issues.

Good Luck

Our GE built in microwave model # JKP62G suddenly started making a loud noise when we try to use it. It does this on any power level and on the defrost setting also. It does not seem to be heating...

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

No display on microwave touchpad for ge Model JKP62G

The GE JKP62G Microwave / Oven combination has an internal fuse behind the control panel for the microwave. The oven will operate but the microwave will be totally dead (no light, no clock). Turn off the breaker for the oven at the fuse box (30 Amp double breaker). In order to replace the fuse you will have to open the door to the microwave, remove the two screws (Torx) from the front control panel (located on the left edge of the control panel), wiggle the panel to the left (there are two metal tabs that stick into the metal frame of the microwave on the right of the panel) and then tilt the panel down from the top. There is a metal bracket that holds the control panel to the microwave at the bottom (don't remove it). Look towards the top of the microwave inside the area behind the control panel and you will see a 15 Amp screw in fuse. Replace the fuse and that should fix your problem.
