Hi - I have a Westinghouse dishwasher. Don't know the model number. I had a problem last weekend with my kitchen sink drain and there was a fair amount of water left in the dishwasher. The drain has been cleared. But I was wondering if it is okay to run the dishwasher now - with all that water there - or whether I should start it at the rinse cycle. I tried running the dry cycle last night - but that had no effect.

Run a regular cycle and if the pump was not harmed by the back pressure it will return to normal. Good chance everything is ok.

What do i do to fix error code OE on my LG dishwasher

Based on what it mentioned on the LG website it is an error indicating a drainage error. The solution might be to clean the drain filters at the base, check drain hose under kitchen sink and behind dishwasher for kinks or blockages. On make sure the kitchen sink drain is not blocked. Worst scenario is a clogged drain pump. you will have to provide the model number for any further analysis.

The water doesnt seem to be pumping away even though I can hear the sound of the pump

If water is not going away then it is likely the drain hose is blocked, the filter plate is blocked or the kitchen sink drain is blocked. check the garbage disposal unit if used in the kitchen sink has been operated and clear of rubbish before you operate dishwasher. Need make and model number of dishwasher to get a better idea.

How do unclog the drain on my dishwasher model 665.16902400

Unhook the drain hose for the sink connection. Clean out port connection of the sink connection..
leave the hos off until you complete Air-Gap inspecion / cleaning (next)

On most installs there is an Air-Gap on the back of the kitchen sink.
images?q=tbn:and9gcq21cbh2axzfji-fvyvbg8mgnyhpmkowhj1toxxffd2qewqkya7dbgxkvqy
Pull the outer shell cover straight up and off.
NOTE the inner nut and diverter cap installed position. (It only fits one way)
Unscrew the inner plastic nut
Remove diverter cap.
Use a flash light and wire coat hanger to clear any obstructions from the outlet. Place the end you removed from thge cink connection into a bucket and pour water into the hole where the diverter cap was. This will flush the drain portion of the Air-gap and outlet hole to the sink connection.
Next remove the dishwasher drain hose from the air gap connection. Place removed Hose in the bucket and secure it if you can not hold it.
Set diswasher to wash or cancel drain and let the residual water in the dishwasher pump into the bucket. (can make a mess if pump flow is strong.) Keep a rag in your hand. If you now have good flow... reconnect the dishwasher drain hose to the Air-Gap Connection and the Air Gap to sink connection to the sink connecton port. Task complete.

If you still have a problem after doing the above... Remove the drain hose from the dishwasher connection and check the dishwasher outlet port for obstructions. Remove any obstructions.

Ok now... if it is still not draining.. I need to confirm your model number because it is not crossing to any repair or parts data. You posted 665.16902400 is this correct? Let me know if your stil having problems. I think I can work around the model number issue but would prefer to have a good model number if you have to remove the lower wash arm and clean the sump area. (Last)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

My viking dishwasher won't complete it's cycle. The error code that flashes is the heavy pots and pans. We've checked the filter and drains and nothing is clogged. What else could it be?

Have you checked the kitchen sink drain and air gap if one is installed in your kitchen. If using the garbage disposal unit in kitchen then make sure it is clear.

provide model number of dishwasher for further diagnosis.

What would cause my dishwasher not to drain?

not sure if you have posted the model number of your dishwasher.

There are several reasons for dishwasher not to drain.

1. faulty drain pump
2. clogged kitchen sink drain
3. drain cycle is not reached due to faulty dishwasher controller
4. clogged drain hose
5. the wash cycle is not completed due to heater not heating water - (try rinse cycle to confirm)

Happy to help if you can provide some details on when the drain cycle is not working. do you get any alarms on dishwasher..etc.

Water not draining in bottom of dishwasher

it might help to know the full model number of the dishwasher.

if the drain motor can be heard at the end of cycle and yet no water is draining out, then there could be a blocked drain hose or kitchen sink.

if you cannot hear the drain motor operating then it is a likely blockage or fault in the drain pump/ motor.

After washing dishes in the kitchen sink, water fills up and stands in the dishwasher and drains only after running the dishwasher

Hi, There is a drain hose under the sink that goes to the dishwasher. Make sure that hose is raised up higher then the drain pipe for you sink. It is just draining into the dishwasher because the drain hose is to low.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Dishwasher water keeps backing up into kitchen sink then taking a long time to drain from sink

Yes, your sink drain needs cleaning -- it's clogged. Pour some bleach into the sink drains and let it sit for a couple of hours. Flush out with boiling hot water.

If this improves the situation but not completely solving the drain problem, try it again.

If that doesn't solve the problem, remove the P-traps on the sink drains under the sink and clean them out.

If that doesn't work, let me know -- we'll try something else.
