So jemmyr... where are the specifics on repairing this monitor?
You can find information in the Acer Al1916v and the AL1916p service guides. These are PDF's and can be found by Google. I cannot find the 1916w service guide either but these two PDF's gave me enough information on how to disasemble the 1916w monitor. Please note that the electronics shown are not for the 1916w. My 1916w monitor has a Delta A190E2 power supply that the Delta site cannot find any reference to. I replaced two blown (domed) CapXon 1000 microfarad 25v dc electrolytic capacitors with better quality caps since this brand is known to be a source of problems. My monitor hissed when it came on and stopped when the screen went dark and the orange light came on. This kind of noise is generally a sign that the power supply is failing and caps that are not domed could also be leaking and about to fail. Replacing the caps solved the problem.
It should be noted that eBay is selling this same power supply for ShopJimmy for about $90.

my al1916 will not power on, after checking the power supply ive noticed that part U101 is blown (melted) can someone tell me the exact part so i can put a replacement in as there are no letters to tell me which part this is as its melted and ive looked everywhere for the service manual. im pretty sure its a voltage regulator of some sort. also notice what could be a very slight bulge at the top of the c114 cap (400v 100uf)
