I have a sony vaio CS series , Flickiring screen

I have a sony vaio CS series , its a year old and the screen recently started to flicker, lines across the screen appears in a blink and goes every 5 seconds , Is there any solution to that problem and a question : If i recoverd the windows again would it help or what ?? thanks please any respond would be apprecited

    Did you ever find a solution? I have exactly the same symptom; flickering every few seconds in a regular pattern

Try to restart in safe mode by tapping f8 while restarting the computer

Remove the bottom pan to expose the cooling fan, clean all dirt out of the heat sink and fins,and clean fan, next remove the heat sink to expose the processor ic, remove the old thermal grease with rubbing alcohol, and apply fresh thermal conductive compound to the heat sink and processor, "not to much! just enough to cover the critical areas and assemble. In most cases this will solve the shutdown problem.

Please help i have a sony vaio vgn cs 290 laptop, recently i noticed a flickering thin line on my laptop screen base my laptop product ID is: 00426-oem-8992662-00400 thanks
Might need new LCD or the video chip on mother board is starting to fail. Connect it to a external monitor and if the line does not a appear in the ext monitor then its the LCD on the laptop. But if the line is still on the ext monitor as well then the video chip on the motherboard is bad. You will have to replace the motherboard or just get a new laptop, all depends of the age of the laptop.

The CS series are known to have a Fan issue. If you call phone support you can get a fan replacement for up to two years after purchase.

That sounds like you require a new/replacement screen.
Check your date of purchase with a warranty repair in mind.
Do it quickly as it may still be covered.

You have a bad NVIDIA IC. You can go to sony US for the free repair of your laptop. Don't worry I already talk to sony's service assistant and told me it is free.

A straight line appear on bottom of the screen
how old is your laptop?

try running a powerfull anti-virus.

back up everithing in your hard drive (image file if u can) and recovery CD so u reset it to factory defaults. if it's still getting worse. go to a repair store, monitor or video bus is malfuncioning.

Pcg-fxa49 won't boot
Could be it needs the DC jack resoldered or replaced. (Sounds like its trying to start off dead battery).. These arent to bad to do compared to others weve repaired. Good luck!
