Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.

SOURCE: how to connect my router without the phone line

Go into the router setup and disable DHCP. Then just plug the ethernet from your new modem straight to one of the 4 ports on the D-Link and you have 3 open ports to use with the computers.

D-link dsl 2640u

It could be a hardware problem, try Resetting the D-link back to the factory defaults and configure the D-link again.
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the router with the power ON until the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESET button. (firmware version was 3.00, and upgraded to 3.05)
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop computer's LAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. (SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access).
Now configure the wireless card in your computer laptop with the router's wireless settings.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Hi, am haveing dlink dsl 2640u .its wireless is not working properly.it always ask for the key.whe i reset the router it work fine for 2 days and it again starts asking for key.i updated the firmware...

You may need to have your computer checked as well from a computer technician because its your computer that is always asking for the network key and not the router. Once you reset your router to default settings and make use of the routers default wireless configuration, it will always stay that way. There might be a possibility that the wireless card on your computer is the one that is having a problem because it always loses the saved wireless settings from your D-Link Modem Router.

My D-Link DSL 2640U modem is working through cable but not wifi

Hello,

You could probably log into the router interface and chnage the wireless settings and re-name the network. This might work.

Hope this helped.

I connect my D-link 2640u but when i go to the browser in order to configure it entering the IP 192.168.1.1 it doesn't show anything

Are you using a computer hardwired to the D-link or a laptop through wifi? I think the instructions say to use a hardwired computer to reconfigure the router.

I have bought a wireless ADSL modem, Dlink DSL 2640u , How can I install and use it for another laptop? I want to use it without wire. Thanks

all wireless devices must be allowed in the router by either MAC address or by name. This is accomplished by logging into to the router and setting up the device in with the wireless setup feature in your router. The router will not allow the device to connect without permissions.

Hi i bought d-link 2640u and i am using as land but i don't know how to use it wireless with my laptop del vostro1510 . if u could help me up i be so thankfull. my e-mail is [email protected]

You said that your are using it as a wired connection and I believe the wired connection is working properly.
The you will need to open the router set up page and create a new wireless network or check the wireless settings of the router.
Once you get the wireless settings of the router , you will need to connect to the wireless network on the wireless computer. it depends on the operating system on your computer.

How to connect my router without the phone line

since you have a wireless router... you can turn on your wireless connection..try to reinstall it..and proceed to the admin page and turn your wi-fi there...then put password so that you can secure your connection..

after that your computer must have a usb bluetooth device.. you can ask for it in the market...just ask for your purpose...

note: connection of your wi-fi in your computer depends on what is the capacity of the bluetooth device you will buy... i mean it has it's limit in size in transmitting and receiving data...
