No not normal at all, unless you leave it in the car switched off and drive several hundred miles to a different location. It could also mean the signal to the antenna is blocked. Try it outside of the car and away from all transmitter equipment (cell phones, blue tooth stuff) If it works okay there it could be because the windshield is blocking signals due to a metal vapour coated windshield (usually French cars have this issue)
