It takes me about 10 tries to get the washer going. 9 out of the 10 times I turn the power button on, turn the cycle selector knob to Permenant Press or any other setting and try to adjust the temp with the wash/rinse button and that button seems to be not working at all. I tried just turning the selector knob to various cycles and pushing the start/stop button, it does not do anything either. Then all of a sudden the buttons will work. All of the other buttons seem to work all of the time. Thanks for any help you can give.
I had this problem with another model LG washer dryer and the problem was just the tiny switch (6mm x 6mm) on the circuit board had worn out. They cost about 30 pence on eBay and are very easy to remove and re-solder onto the circuit board as there are only 2 pins. This saved a huge amount of money for a new control board.
Control panel have to reset. Mine at first not working one button .then later other button seemed press autocaticaly :)and then the pause play not working!! So, turnnoff, then unplug. At off mode, press for 5 second d power button and the same with the pause/play button. Then plug.. Enjoy washing!
Sounds like the display board has a malfunction in the button controls and needs to be replaced. Call a qualified LG tech to have it replaced and that should take care of the problem.
Could also be that the board has not been screwed on tight enough so it has a bit of play in it. You would have to check to see if the boards that are behind the display panel are on correctly.
It could also be a defect in the board.

I have the same problem on my LG WM2077CW. So far repair boards have not fixed the problem. It has been repaired 3 or 4 times. It will work fine for a bit then start having the same problem again. All the other buttons work fine. The only button that doesn't work is the start button. Critical button.
would the display board be covered under the computer board warrenty?
I wonder if it can be related to the Delay Wash function somehow. I have similar problem. I cannot get the power on at all and suddenly when I look at the machine after a while it is on.
