My Presario 300 has two broken hinges
Yes they can. You can buy new, or look on Ebay to see if any are available.
You have to remove the LCD Screen Bezel, LED Cover, (Switch Cover), and the Keyboard to access both hinges.
Sound like I'm typing a foreign language? Let me show you a guide to replacing those hinges, complete with photos, so that you may better understand,
This is a PDF file download for a Compaq Presario 305. After you click on the link, give it time to fully download before looking through it.
Here is the direct link,

If that doesn't work for you, here is the page it came from,

It's in the right column. -> Presario 305.pdf
Start with Page 18, Preparing For Disassembly
Read and view Pages 24, 25, and 26. These pages show you the three connectors that must be disconnected, Display Panel cable, Inverter cable, and Audio cable.
(Pay special attention to how a ZIF connector comes apart. It's real easy to do, believe me. Page 23 shows you. You'll see that the ZIF connector is made up of two parts. The main connector body, and cable guide. The guide is shown in an up position in the illustration. It is down next to the main body of the connector, when you start. The guide does not come out all the way. You merely lift it up with your fingernails to the position shown, and the cable slides out. To replace, insert the cable in the correct orientation, then push the guide down against the main body)
Removing the keyboard is on Page 37. Removing the Switch Cover is on Page 40.
Removing the Display Panel is on Page 42.
Don't let this task seem that daunting. You CAN do it! I advise using a clean egg carton for the various screws. Label each egg holder for where the various screws come from. (Sounds pretty techy, huh? lol! That's what I use!)
