Hi. Since you reinstalled operating system on the computer you need to reainstall also all the drivers that your computer needs. Drivers that i am referring usually came with the CD when you purchased the laptop. If you already misplaced the driver cd then please tell me the model/brand and windows OS of your computer so that i can assist you in finding the correct driver of your computer,

Have a good one!

The volume icon disappeared

At the bottom of your screen where all the icons are visible you should see an icon that looks like a pyramid. When you pass your mouse over it 'show hidden icons' should appear. Click that icon then click 'customize' to set icon behaviors.

No sound after intalling widow 7

There are a number of different reasons why your computer may no longer give sound. If you have this problem, read on to learn how to diagnose the problem and resolve your PC's loss of sound.
Check the Speaker Connections and Volume Control Settings
  1. Verify that the lack of sound is not due to faulty speaker connections. A simple way to test it is to substitute the speaker connection with headphones and see if you get any sound
  2. Open the volume control window by clicking your "Start" button and then "All Programs." Click "Accessories," then "Entertainment," then "Volume Control." Alternatively, just click on the speaker icon that's in your System Tray.
  3. Check the volume and mute settings. If any of the mute check boxes have been checked, uncheck them. If this doesn't work, read on.

Perform a System Restore If Necessary

  2. Click on "Accessories," then "System Tools," then "System Restore."
  3. Complete the System Restore Wizard. If this doesn't work, read on.

Delete and Reinstall the Original Sound Drivers
  1. Deleting and reinstalling your sound driver may resolve the problem. Your sound driver may have been corrupted or may be missing. The result of this is that the restore utility menu won't be available. For Windows XP, follow these steps.
  2. Click on your "Start" button. Click on "Control Panel" and then "System." Next, click on "Hardware," then "Device Manager, then "Sound, Video and Game Controllers."
  3. Click on a sound device named in the Device Manager, and then press the Delete key on the keyboard. Click "OK" in the window that appears. Remove all the listed sound devices i this way EXCEPT Audio Codec and Legacy Audio Drivers.
  4. Restart your computer. Reinstall the deleted drivers using the Driver and Application Recovery CDs that came with your Windows XP system.
  5. Visit your computer manufacturer's official website. Check for any updated sound driver software for your sound card. If any, download them along with the installation instructions.

Have lost the sound in my window xp pc what do i need to do?

Verify software volume control settings
First verify you see a small sound icon sound3.gif or sound.jpg in the Systray (generally at the bottom right hand corner of your screen). If this icon is missing follow the below section.
Windows XP
  1. Open the Control panel
  2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
  3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document.
  4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.

ACER ASPIRE 3000

Left click the volume icon in the system tray in windows.

A slider will appear which you can drag up and down to change the volume on the computer.

If the volume icon is not in the system tray, do this:

Go to Start->Control Panel
Pick Sounds and Audio Devices
Open the Volume tab
Tick "Place volume icon in taskbar"

Now you should have an icon in the taskbar.

If you cannot do this, then you do not have the proper sound card drivers installed and you computer will be playing no sound whatsoever, which is unrelated to your question.
