Question about Hayward H Series Pool & Spa Heater 400k Btu Propane Gas Milivolt Ignition H400p1
My spa heater is showing ao error message and would not kick in to start heating help
You didn't indicate exatctly which model you have. But on most the AO error code is :Blower vacuum switch
open error If the blower prover switch does not close after the blower starts the control will
stop the ignition trial go into lockout. The blower will continue to run. Automatic reset is immediate after the switch closes.Check to be sure combustion blower starts
If you don't have your manual you can download one for your exact model at : www.haywardnet.com

Had same problem when starting pool heater for first time after winter. Found that mice chewed through the vacuum gray hose/tubing that runs from the motor to a diaphragm-like thing at the inside top of the heater. Easy fix, bought tubing and clamps at hardware store for $5.00. Heater works now and no error code.

This forum is fantastic! I tried to fire up my spa yesterday for the first time in months, and got the AO code. I'm sure the answers I found here saved me well over $100. I took off the front panel, and immediately saw the severed vacuum hose. Luckily, it had been gnawed through in such a way that the longer piece could be used by itself, so $0 repair cost. I wrapped the hose in foil and duct tape, in hopes of discouraging another critter attack.
