Chiltons for 1994 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L does not have a wiring diagram for the AC electrical or the ignition switch. The AC relay is not ''hot'' where it is supposed to be and I can't find a diagram of that either, but the green wire that runs out of it to the steering column (is it the ground line?)appears to be intact. Where it the other side of that circuit? Anybody got a detailed diagram of of the AC electrical system?
Problem manifests itself by intermittently cutting out dashboard lights, wipers, radio, air conditioning. Seems worse in wet weather.
Hope you can read it? If not I'll try something else. See the compressor relay, that line with arrowhead is load side of relay, when relay is energized that arrowhead moves to other terminal, that is a fuse protected circuit, goes hot with the key on, underhood fuse box/power distribution center f6--15amp. The left side of relay is control, needs voltage and ground. fuse f5--25 amp interior fuse box and is wired through selection switch. As you can see, the computer grounds control side of relay.
Your second paragraph sounds like a big voltage drop, somewhere, I'd have make sure battery is good and charged up, check battery connections and check your charging system.

There could be a fusible link under the hood off the starter relay that is burnt out.

Here is the stereo wires which may help you figure out which are not the ac wires etc. hope this helps with some of the problem.

I think I have found the problem. When I wiggle the ignition switch the turn signals and radio go on and off so I feel the issue is in the ignition switch. From what I understand the actual electronics for the switch are at the base of the sterring column behind the lower dash panel and is connected by a rod that may need adjusting.

No its not true, the cooling fan comes on when the coolant temp reaches a certain point it closes the switch in the temp sensor wich in turn closes the relay and powers the cooling fan,the reason it comes on with the A/C is that it's wired to bypass the temp sensor and associated relay because the A/C compressor forces the motor to work harder and the coolant temp to rise significantly faster, the relay needs to be replaced or you will overheat the motor and possibly cause serious damage.

If you intend to keep the vehicle long term, I would suggest you invest in a Haynes Manual, That is worth its weight in gold, for this and any other project..
