Hi. You really need to get a replacement manual--it's the most important accessory your machine has! Without knowing what kind of machine you have, I can't be very specific, but try http://www.tias.com/stores/relics/. Linda has most every manual out there.

Generally speaking, to do a rolled hem, you need a rolled hem foot. They are readily available for most machines, but you'll need to know if your machine uses low shank, high shank, slant shank, or snap-on feet. Generally, unless your machine is very old or a Bernina, feet are interchangeable. Check the selection of pressure feet at http://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/sewing-feet.php?src=google&cmp=Accessories_&_Parts&adgp=Sewing_Machine_Presser_Feet&kw=presser_foot_Broad&gclid=CP2M-LKd_ZgCFSQhDQodwhUylg. They also have pictures of the various shank types, to help you identify yours.

Hope this helps!

Robbie

How do I sew a rolled hem on an old elna overlocker?

If you put the make and model number with the word Manual, into a google search, you may be able to find a manual online. Some are free, some are copies and cost a bit.. but there are tons of them out there.

You might also try contacting Elna.. some companies, sometimes, have copies of older manuals available or might be able to direct you to a shop that could show you how it works.

This may be too small to read, if so, email via
www.bargainbox.com.au and I shall send it on........remember to only ever use the R needle, so you only have 3 threads.

To move the Rolled hem arm, you will need to release the upper knife (knob on left inside cover....push to the right and blade moves approx 6mm) so you can slide the small metal tongue to correct position for:

N = Normal
R = Rolled
