Will not recognize linksys network

I have a linksys wireless usb which won't recognize my linksys router. What should I look for?

  • Anonymous Jul 28, 2010

Yes, the router is working and I have a laptop which is able to access the internet through the router. The wireless usb, however, does not recognize the router. I am attempting to allow communication to the router from my desktop XP.

I suggest that you install the drivers and then connect the usb card when you see the wireless connection on the tray close to the clock, click on connection manager and click on the wireless connection that belong to you . there is two ways to manage your connection one with the software for the wireless card and also you can let windows manage the connection hope this help you

My wireless g will not recognize my linksys wireless router, it recognizes all the routers at the stores near me but not mine. what can i do to connect it with my router?

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
If your network is secured then make sure that you are typing the correct network key.
also make sure that the DHCP server is enabled on the router.
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.

Is there a install disc for a usb linksys wireless network adapter, my computer won't recognize it and i need help

You can download the drivers from the following link.

http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support

Also check if there is any unknown USB device in the device manager and remove it. Try reinstalling the adapter thereafter

Compatability of a linksys wusb546s ver2.1 usb network adapter

Yes, you can use both.
The router usually broadcast more IP adresses the an end user would have need for.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Do i have to have a linksys router to be able to use usb adapter?

No you do not, but you do need some form of a wireless router to make that Internet connection wireless. Depending on which modem you have that connects to the Internet, you might already have a wireless router.
