My moultrie game camera quit working. I thought the batteries were dead but i replaced the batteries but it won't come on at all. I'm just wondering if the camera is now useless or if Ican send somewhere to get it fixed.
Maybe take it back to shop or better to send to manufacture they will fix it i guess for a small cost ..DO NOT just dump it on ebay or trash item why not give the manufacturer a change to be good responsible company and fix or replace item for a small fee

If you mean the Moultrie M-888 mini game camera, you need to open the camera cover and then press a release button on the front of the camera to open the battery tray on the bottom of the camera. The release button is in the center at the bottom of this section of the camera. If the release button isn't working, then you need to discuss the problem with Moultrie.
HARD RESET TAKE OUT BATTERIES SD CARD PUSH THE ON OFF BUTTON FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS LEFT EVERYTHING OUT FOR 2-5 MINUTES. THEN PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN TURN THE CAMERA ON IT SHOULD SAY NO CARD. THEN TURN IT OFF THEN PUT THE SD CARD BACK AND TRY IT IN THE DARK AREA TO SEE IF THE FLASH WILL GO OFF. IF THAT DOESN'T WORK WILL NEED TO SEND IT IN FOR REPAIRS.
Does the flash work? Could be flash circuit or day/night sensor. If you have another D40/D50 camera that flash works but has other problems, swap out the sensors. If not the sensor but the flash circuit then most likely one of the large charge capacitors which has to be soldered in.I use a digital multimeter with I/O capacitor test function..these caps should be about 250mfd.
According to Moultrie you can try a hard reset. Take out batteries, and SD card, hold on button for 2 min. Replace batteries and try, haven't tried it yet, but will
Try using the Energizer Lithium batteries in this unit. They have an extended life on them and usually they will be a better battery especially in game trail cameras. We use these in all of our game trail cameras, cuddeybacks and bushnells. They work extremely well for us. Also, try contacting moultrie through there customer service site and most times if they can not help you with the unit, they will replace the unit, or work with you.
Hope this helps.
this has to be a D-40;check that push button is actually contacting push switch on printed-circuit card below..ck connections at that area of pcb...a bad solder job will ruin your day.
