You may have corrupted BIOS. If so, you need to download your BIOS to a flash drive and try to recover it. Some Gateway users have seen this with the Insyde BIOS. See: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gateway-emachines/589067-gateway-nv78-insyde-bios-recovery-filename-hangs-bios-splash-screen.html
You need to take the covers off the bottom of the machine and look in those areas for the jumper. It could be under the ram, near the hdd or the battery and the wireless cards. They don't publish the location because it is an anti-theft feature.
PXE-E61 Error message showing due to Media cable failure. You have to fix this media cable failure one must return to the BIOS screen at start up. Depending on the model of the laptop, press f1, f2, or delete to enter the BIOS screen (the computer will tell you what keys to press). At the bottom of the BIOS screen, there will be a menu. One of the options should be "setup defaults." By pressing the corresponding key, it will return all of your settings back to how they where originally. Hopefully it will help you

sounds like you lost your BIOS, you may need to find a way to get the BIOS on a bootable disc, then re flash you BIOS. the only problem is you need to know the maker of your BIOS, i have an IBM and Phoenix Technologies made my BIOS, i just downloaded a new version from the IBM website and reflashed mine, but if you get the wrong version you can destroy your motherboard.
