I am facing problem with my Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. Sound is not coming from my Laptop.
I went in Accerssories->System Tools->System Information. Then in System Information, under Components->Sound Device, nothing is coming up. Its blank.
Also went in
Settings->Control Panel->Sound Speech And Audio Devices->
Sound and Audio Devices. On this "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" dialog, under "Volume" tab it says "No Audio Device" and ever thing is disabled on this tab.
Please tell me what to do to resolve this.
I tried by reinstalling RealTek High definition audio drivers also. But still not able to get the sound
I am worried that there is a problem with the sound card on your motherboard. If it has worked in the past and then suddenly disappeared, usually it is because the computer can no longer locate your sound card. It will not load a driver for a device that no longer exists. Since you have already done most of the troubleshooting steps, it is time to think about replacing your motherboard. Good luck

hi I am linda
trying going into add and remove the whole thing then shut your pc down and reboot it after is rebooted try going to systems files and make sure your aduio deivce is still connected if it is n't I am supposeing your audio card mite be bad or reinstalling it mite take care of the promblem .
Was it working before and did you do anything to warrant the difference?
Normally people reinstall Windows XP and find that the sound did not load up.
Pretty unusual for a laptop sound to just stop if yours has done exactly that then the sound card is either poked or the driver has just died.

Sound level bar at 100%. Sound only comes out at about 35% level. Tried everything. Reloaded drivers. Set mixer to "Powerful" etc. has anyone ever found out a true solution to this problem. It is not normal. My daughters older Dell is too loud at 60%. I was hoping it would eventually be something like a jumper misplaced or software. i am running VISTA Home Premium. The computer does well other than the sound. I upgraded the memory to 4 GIG. The sound problem is so disappointing that I pretty much will never buy another ACER Product.
My sound icon has an x on it, when I highlight the icon with mouse it states No Audio Output Device is installed. I went to Device Manager it doesn't even show no sound device. I have installed drivers but it won't work because it needs a sound card, I believe it is realtek sound card not sure.
I also have the Acer 5100 Notebook, when I received the laptop the only CD they gave me was for Windows Vista Home Premium that is installed on my PC. Instructions stated to do a Back-up of all the programs and files on the PC before using it. I did that, so I have the back-up. If I run my back-up will it erase all my info on my pc? Will it restore my sound card?
I believe this all started when Windows Update did a update this month the end of July, everything updated except one update, and that was the New Vista Service Pkg 1. So, I didn't think anything of it, so it required me to restart my computer, and then when the pc was up and running again I didn't have a sound device, I didn't notice it right away until I tried to open windows email, it wouldn't open. I tried playing songs on my media player no sound. So, I tried to do another Window Update, hoping it would restore my sound card. But it stated I had all the updates except one which was New Vista Service Pkg 1.
Everytime I would try to update to that version it would stop in the middle of the update, and ask for the CD for Microsoft Word 2002, I couldn't find the CD, and the update failed. Window update wouldn't install the new version of vista. At first the Window Vista would not update to my pc until I removed XP version of Word 2002 from the Acer Laptop.
So, I decided to uninstall Word 2002, rebooted, then updated to the New Windows Vista Service Pkg 1. no problem updated ok. So, I restarted my pc thinking it would restore my sound card. No sound card. Tried to do another windows update. Stated No Updates are Available at this time.
I have been going to other forums alot more people are having the same problem. I went to Acer, and Realtek, no downloads for Sound Card, just driver, downloaded that, but still I don't have a sound card. I went to some sites, and they want you to pay them for downloading drivers, and sound cards. I'm not going to do that, so I guess I will contact Acer Support, and Realtek Support, and Defintely Microsoft Support.
This is ridiculous. Especially since there are many people having the same problem. It has to be a bug in the new microsoft windows vista service pkg. 1 update.
I have Acer Aspire 3002NLC laptop with the same problem please provide me assistance
i cant hear any noise from my acer laptop 5100
ive tried everything
I also have no sound card showing on the device manger.I have recovered the computer back to original using the disks.after all that I still have no sound..I have A nephew that messes with it and it did have sound.could he have done some thing? we have A rash of sound cards that don't work around here.
Thanks
