SOURCE: won't drain all the way, 1/2 gallon water left in tub

do you have the drain line going to an airgap? if not try making a high loop with the drain line to see if that solves your problem.

SOURCE: water will not drain

If the hose is connected to a food disposal system, which was recently installed, then you will have to puncture the hard plastic piece inside the hole where the hose was connected to the disposal.

Disconnect the hose and drain the hose as much as you can.

MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE DISPOSAL and the DISHWASHER.

The piece is inside the hole and you will have to use a ice pick or a screwdriver. It took me some time to do because of the hard plastic and the ackward positioning of the disposal. The piece is the size of a quarter and it is perforated for the purpose of puncturing.

Once punctured through, take a pair of pliers to pull the piece from the inside of the disposal where you place the food to be grinded. Throw the piece away and connect the hose. Plug back the disposal and dishwasher and you should be ready to go.

Standing water in dishwasher

Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that you have some standing water inside of your Frigidaire dishwasher. It is a normal operation to have anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of water inside of the tub of your dishwasher. If it is anything more than that you could have an issue with the drain pump or drain line.

You may want to check the drain line for any restrictions or clogs that could cause improper siphoning from your dishwasher. You should also make sure that the filter located in the bottom of your tub is clean, that could cause water to stand within your dishwasher. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

It's normal for some water to stand in bottom of outer tub. It shouldn't be visible in the inner tub though.

Water standing in tub

If there is a lot of water sitting inside the applicance, it's possible that the high water float switch has been activated and is preventing the dishwasher from running. Open the door, remove the bottom rack, dip as much water out of the bottom as possible with a shallow ladle or even tupperware container. When that is accomplished, shut the door and try to run a drain cycle. If the unit won't start, you may have to remove more water. You don't have to have the rack in place to run the drain cycle.

Miele Dishwasher G841 - Water not draining after wash cycle

If you suspect the dish washer, try discharging the drain in a bucket. After the drain cycle check the wash tub. If water is still left, you have to clean the drain filter attached to the bottom. Refer user guide.

The final drain end of the dish washer where you discharge, the fixing junction has to be cleaned, incase it is clogged.

Water will not drain

if there is still standing water in the tub you can use a wet dry shop vac. attach it to the end of the drain hose and remove all the water.
once the water is removed check the drain pump for any thing that maybe stuck in it to stop the impellar wheel from turning.make sure to check the hose that comes from the bottom of the tub to the drain pump
if there is nothing found then you may need to replace the drain pump. rare occasions the main board needs to be replaced

When it goes through rinse cycle and starts to pump water out of the machine, the drain pipe fills up and overflows, then it will rapidly drain.

Usually there is a clog or restriction in the stand pipe(drain pipe) causing water to not drain away.....Suggest drain-O products.
If you have a very long drain or the stand pipe is not above the water level in the tub you will want some type of air gap to prevent siphoning.(siphon break kit)

good luck

Dishwasher drains but leaves behind about 1/2" of standing water

Water standing in the bottom of the tub is normal.
A small amount of clean water around the outlet on the tub bottom at the back of the tub keeps the water seal lubricated.

Mildew smell

water may not be draining completely out cause something is stuck in drainage area.

Other posts tell how to remove the top of washer to look between white outer tub and inner wash tub for sock or something else that is lodged.

Look at my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot" for instructions on removing the black motor/white plastic housing from bottom of washer. I had a sock stuck in the very lowest part of the drainage system, water wouldn't drain out and couldn't see the sock until I removed the motor. I was able to pull the sock through the quarter-sized hole in bottom of tub and drain the remaining very stinky water. I used a dog dish (need a low edge bowl to fit under washer), tipped washer forward, then back and just kept emptying the dish.

Saw another post said don't tip washer back. There is something on backside of washer that you could break if you tip backwards. So, if you tip forward i guess you won't break anything--i haven't...yet.

Noticed a musty smell lately, and also had gray streaks on my clothes. Think the standing water that wouldnt' drain out has been my issue for some time now and when the motor burned out, I finally had to research the other issues.
