ok why whoud you put salt in dish washer you screwed it up from doing that the salt sweld up and cloged the sencer the sencer is your intake and your intake takes water in out clean out with dish soap 1 or twice with mild water mixed with dish soap[
You have to buy a cartridge type water softener and attach it to the
inlet water line of your dish washer. In addition to this there must be
a salt compartment in the dish washer.
Refer the user guide /owners manual and locate. Fill it with the special
dish washer salt. ( Do not use kitchen salt used for food).
The dish washer salt may help to certain extent in softening the wash
tub water inside. Check the switch settings for rinse aid and salt release settings in the machine. Refer manual!
Use the salt supplied by your service provider. Or try in a super market.Ask for dish washer salt. If a plastic funnel is supplied use it to fill the salt compartment. The quantity as it holds.
Check the main drain system connected to the dish washer hose pipe. Clean the junction if clogged. This smell might orginate from the pipe.
Check incoming water quality. If hard water is noticed, use softener attachments to the inlet.
Fill dish washer salt in the dispenser. Refer user guide. The salt will help softening the water to certain extent. Finally check whether rinse aid dispenser filled with the rinse aid liquid.
Did you check the incoming water quality, regarding hardness!
If your washing machine supports salt addition technique, fill the appropriate box and fill the salt that is meant for washing machines. Salt works as a softener.
Finally check your rinse aid also for it's fill in the dispenser meant for it
i removed the drain cover in the bottom of the dish area ( near the salt fill cap )and cleaned it out. poured boiling water in and closed the machine and ran it with the hottest setting, empty.
this seams to have cured it
is the salt container cap damaged or loose? is the rinse aid topped up? if all ok then are you scraping most of the food from the plates, this can cause old food to mush, pulp and leave grit on dishes.
On Yahoo Answers Blue Rizla Girl put up the idea that the sensor is some form of hydrometer. (i.e. floats in salty water sinks if not salty enough)
Based on this thought I postulated that the sensor is some form of hydrometer float in a tube with perhaps an optical sensor.
If this is correct why is it not working?
Is it because the float is stuck at the bottom of the tube, perhaps by some food debris? If so how can we fix it?
This is what I did on my Hotpoint FWD60:-
I took the salt filler cap off. There was no salt in the reservoir as it has been a problem for months, and I was only refilling it when dishes were not coming clean.
I poured 2 litres of hot water into the salt reservoir.
I then put the empty machine on the intensive 65 degree wash, half load and with the reservoir cap still OFF.
When finished I filled up with salt and HEY PRESTO the salt light is OFF!!!!
Just hope it stays that way until the reservoir really needs refilling.
While I was down on my hands and knees I took the opportunity to clean the filters in the sump. They do get full of bits!
I also flushed the sump by dashing a couple of cups of hot water into it and then bailing it out with a small yoghurt pot. I repeated this until the water in the yoghurt pot and the sump no longer had any signs of bits in them. (Dashing = vigorously pour)
I was amazed at how many bits I got out, especially considering I had given the machine a good clean in the past 6 weeks.
