Here is the service manual for this tv at the following website link. Unfortunately I can't get you a free copy, but if you want one, then you can register at this site and download it after paying for a subscription, the site says that it has your specific manual which would be very helpful if you are able to read schematics http://www.nodevice.com/manual/sonymans/manual3534pdf/get5050.html# Since you seem to know a little about electronics, this will be a good start for you. I can answer questions that you may have, just give me time to respond to any that you post as I am not on here 24/7.
Otherwise what I can help you with is the blinking indicator light. It most likely has a pattern which is an error code. Can you please post the pattern for me (how many blinks in a row) Thank you
Let me know what you find.
Benjamin
Can you tell me what the indication is if there are 5 blinks then a 4 or 5 second pause then repeats itself this set will try to fire up but does not but the voltage will not hold.
The other set has rapid blinks 9 times with a 4 to 5 second pause then repeats. this set only have voltage in the stand by mode and never tries to fire up.
Both are sony's KV32FS120 Can you help with this problem
the set when the power button is initial depressed voltage tries to come up but shut downs as though the shut down circuit has been activated then the indicator light begins to blink 5 times rapiddly pauses for 4 to 5 seconds then repeat continously.
the other set when power button is depressed no other voltage is indicated to come up IE.. regulator high voltage etc.only stand by voltage is presentthat is the 24 volts 5 volts it then begings to blink rapidly 9 times then pauses for 4 to 5 seconds then repeats.
Both sets are sony's KV32FS120

Hi,
How many times power indicator/ standby light blinks with 3 seconds long pause?
Click HERE to download service manual free copy that has all schematics, parts list info, I hope that will help you to fix this tv.
Let me know if you face any trouble in downloading service manual.
Thanks.
The KV32FS120 blinks 5 times stop and then starts to blink again
5 times standby light blinks.
Check +200V on circuit board that fixed on tube end. You can check these volts before tv goes to standby/ shuts off.
If 200V are fine then adjust Screen Volts as control knob is located on flyback transformer. Upper knob is focus control and lower is screen control.
Solution does not apply for this set the relay does not engage so you can not get 200 volts or any voltage other than the stand by voltage.
You need to push power or channel button on tv remote to turn it on to test voltage, tv will go to standby in few seconds but you can measure +200V on crt board.
I'm Sony tech and do this kind of job daily.
used the remote now set blinks 9 times, set does not come on only voltage that comes up are the 24volts and 5 volts but relay will not engage . Standby voltage present but regulator voltage will not kick in.
Did you downloaded service manual from link I provided you earlier?
Service manual has error codes details up to 5 blinks. Unplug tv from wall socket for minute, replug back in and turn it On.
ok, no problem.
I also have a kv-32fs120 that blinks 9 times. The standby and 24v are present.
When I pull pin 66 of ic001 down, the relay clicks, and I can turn the TV on with the power switch. Everything seems to work ok, but I don't run the TV that way for more than a few seconds at a time.
I am not looking forward to changing IC001. Any suggestions on what to check?

In most cases the standby light might blink with different rapidity to indicate a fault relevant to the processor. It is possible that most of these indicate that there are errors in the processing section. Since there is a possible short or leak in the circuit the output driver section can take in huge current to trip the SMPS or from advice from the micro processor. Remove the power plugs and make sure that high voltage sections are discharged of the potential stored in capacitors. Look for visible signs of leak or of busted capacitors. Look for bulged capacitors or damaged components- burnt or busted. Use a multi-meter to check the continuity or shorting in components, if so detach from circuit and test. If the voltage builds up and the set power ON and then shuts up then the suspected section must be checked in detail.
The processor must have the +5 voltage to the function properly, the +B and secondary voltages also must be checked to infer the fault. Trace with caution and in running through the signal path , circuit trail.
Check for tips to check the SMPS unit:

Sony KV32FS120 does not power up indicator light blinks 9 times I detect no voltage.I hve checked the circuit board for 200 volts set will not engage only stand by voltage present
i HAVE CHECKED ALL COmPONEnTS IN THE horitizonal output section and the power circuit I have the 24 volts for stand by could there be components in this section that checks good but be faulty. What could cause this to blink 5x on one set and 9x on another set what could this be on the Sony KV32FS120.
I have two Sony KV32FS120 one blinks 5x but will not engage the other blinks 9x but will not engage I checked all conponents in the horizitional and power supply I only get 24 volts in the standby mode.It is not ckhecking for 200 volts that is required
