How to type telugu in indesign cs3

Are you using a Windows machine? If so, you'll probably need to make sure that you have a Telugu keyboard configuration in place:

  1. Open the Start Menu and click "Control Panel." Open "Regional and Language Options" and then click "Change keyboards or other input methods." Click the "Change keyboards" button.
  2. Click "Add" to add a new input language. Scroll down the list until you find "Telugu." Click the "+" symbol to open up the sub-menu. Open the keyboard sub-menu. Check the box for the keyboard layout of your choice: Hindu Traditional or Telugu. Click "OK" when done and click "OK" once more to close the language and region window.
In InDesign, you should be able to change the 'Language' of particular text from the Character palette. This option is at the bottom of the palette but I don't know if there is an option for Hindu or Telugu.

You can find the font here: http://salrc.uchicago.edu/resources/fonts/available/telugu/

Once you download it; you will have to install the font manually by copying/pasting to the fonts folder in the windows folder present in C drive. You should then be able to use the font.

Thank you.
