SOURCE: No display under 1024x768

I have the same problem with 800x600. I've found that by setting the refresh rate to 56 Hz, I can get the games to play. For instance Age-Of-Empires II only works with this method. My old monitor worked fine, and this works at 1280x1024.

Normally you don't need a driver for a monitor, any screen resolution adjustments is done by the Control Panel - Display - Settings.

I have an old SVA VR-17S monitor. It is now humming. Can this be fixed or is it the end. Everything else is still working fine.

Hi
You say your monitor is now humming. I understand this model has integrated speakers. Have you tried turning the volume on these right down, or even disconnecting the computer from these speakers as they may be picking up a "mains hum" from somewhere.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Looking for drivers to use this monitor with Fedora 20 Linux OS

You don't need drivers. You need to adjust the resolution and refresh rate. If you plug in an old CRT monitor then Linux will probably boot and you can edit the conf file to change the settings. Most LCD monitors require 50-60Hz refresh rate.

Where can I download a user manual for my SVA 75S? I can't figure out how/what to use to connect to my tower so that my speakers in the monitor work. Thanks

Hi
You may have noticed two or one stereo jack like. It is similar to a headset jack.
Normally it is green in colour. If not it is black or it has a sign like the image below .
Plug it into your sound card the green channel into your cpu.

Does the SVA have a built in speaker

http://www1.epinions.com/specs/pr-Monitors_SVA_VR_17S_17_in_Monitor_VR_17S
this are the specs for this model of yours and if you pay attention they say there on connectivity that there is a speaker output ...but never for an input ....so ...if you do not see anywhere holes for speakers ...like a speaker should look ...that means that the monitor have input and output for sound ..just for the reason that has equalizer or so .......
but thee is the possibility to have speakers ...cause most of them have ....in this case it should have volume - and+ on the controls...

I CANT GET MY MONITOR TO TURN ON

It could be the Monitor, the VGA adapter, or the PC itself. If you power on the monitor without anything connected to it, do you ever see anything on the display?

If not, it is probably the Monitor. If yes, it is likely the vga adapter and/or PC.

''Out of range'' message on an older SVA monitor

This usually means the display resolution settings on your PC are set too high for the monitor to display the signal. Try lowering the resolution on your PC.
