Acer Aspire 4520 laptop: Battery not charging

the laptop might have taken a power surge on the small board that buffers the charge into the battery. Likeley this part will need to be replaced:

when orange light is on it means it is charging and to know whether your system is charging just look at battery symbol where you will find a wire symbol on battery which show it is charging and when charge is complete orange light turns blue

If your adaptor is not supplying enough current, it won't be able to run the laptop and charge at the same time.
Try a new adaptor. Cheap as anything on ebay!

IT MAY BE THE COMPLAINT OF OVER CHARGING OF THE BATTERY.SO TRY TO CHANGE THE BATTERY.

Try to clean the Battery contacts using a pencil Eraser. Also, check if Acer has released any BIOS update or Battery check utility. Try using any other compatible battery and check if the same issue persists.

Remove ur battery & clean it with water and put it in to ur laptop then press 5 minutes ur power button Then ur laptop get started .
Note : Wash ur battery with clean water .

Try to connect your PC with the battery on the power outlet if it lights and charge normally. If the lights still orange, try to open the hard disk case and pull it out then try to put it in place again. If still doesn't go, try the memory card and clean it.
But I suspect that the battery has been overly charged. Try to look for another battery of the same model if it works with another and new battery.

First of all you have to determine whether it's the battery, charger or the laptop itself.
Remove the battery and boot the laptop on AC power only, if the laptop boots up you can rule out the charger and the laptop, you may need a new battery if that is the case.

Since is shows it as charging then your power cable should be working. So it looks like a battery issue but batteries just don't die unless a cell inside dies then they will stop working. Try taking the battery off and making sure that the connections are clean then put it back in. If that doesn't work give the battery a good full charge then bring the battery and laptop back to where you bought it and get them to test the battery to see if a cell died.
