There are a number of things you can try:

1. Ensure batteries are fully charged

2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand or other dirt etc

3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck

4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 2 minutes and refit

If no luck then we have to try some things that could possibly result in damaging your camera so should only be tried if happy to take that risk...

5. Try thumping the camera into your other hand, by thumping into your hand you are trying to jar the mechanism loose, by using your hand you will hopefully not do it too hard or it will hurt. You may need to do this a dozen or so times in different places to work. I have found the flat of the camera bottom into the flat of your hand best..

6. If the lens is stuck in the out position then remove the batteries and try twisting the lens first one way then the other, do not apply excessive force when doing this or you can break gears, you are trying to reposition not force... Likewise if the lens looks like it is crooked you can try pushing it back into position. This has a higher chance of doing more harm than the thump so please be careful...

7. Dismantle the camera, not for the faint heated, you need to dismantle the lens assembly into the main body of the camera

If no luck then only other option is a serviceman I'm afraid, be sure to get a quotes as camera repairs can be uneconomical

My cannon finepix S4200 camera wont zoom in or out I also get message "turn of camera and remove lens cap or obstruction from lens" but no lens cap fitted and there doesnt appear to be any obstruction...

The sensor or logic board in the camera must be fooled, or one of them is defect.
When removing and reinserting the battery does not change this, contact a Canon certified repair centre and ask what it will cost to repair this error. Then decide if you want to spend that money for repair or as a start for a new camera.

Nikon d5000 says lens not fitted

Still make sure you did turn the lens till it clicks.
You could remove the lens, and clean all contacts both from the camera and the lens, with a dry and clean cloth. Don't use any sharp tool in or close by a camera.
After cleaning, refit the lens. If the error comes back, try another lens, to locate if the lens has an error, or the camera does.

I have a canon eos Rebel DXS - I dropped it and now it won't focus.

Normally I'd say your camera is due for a trip to the service department but, depending on the surface the camera was dropped on and did it hit lens first or body. So without knowing let me ask you to do this. Remove the lens and quickly install the body cap on the camera. Hold the lens firmly in a hand and shake it vertically gently but with a little vigor listen for a rattle, stop, do it again horizontally listen for a rattle. If it rattles the lens has internal damage if not and the camera appears to be functioning then I'm going to instruct you on how to clean the gold contacts on the lens and body.
Using a new pencil with a red rubber eraser gently rub/clean the gold contacts while holding the lens almost vertical with the contacts facing down, use a puffer/blower to clear away the rubber dust. On the camera body, remove the body cap and hold the camera with the lens mount facing down as best possible and clean the tinny gold contacts with the red rubber eraser. DO NOT use a puffer/blower or blow on this part to remove eraser dust. Keep the camera lens mount facing down as much as possible and use a lens tissue to clean away any rubber dust. When you have completed this install the lens on the camera and make sure it clicks and locks solidly. Try your camera again, if it works great if not it means there is an electrical break within the camera or lens and it needs to got to a service depot. Hope everything work for you

Error 01

Error 01 is about the communication of the LENS with the camera. Please try to re-attach it and make sure it is correctly fitted. Also you can remove the lens, start cleaning the contacts, put it back in place again and then test.

Good luck!

F EEwhen i put the camera on don`t shut

This means one of two things:-

1. You have not set the lens to it's smallest aperture before fitting it to the camera body; or...

2. The EE servo coupling post on the outer edge of the lens mounting flange on the body has broken off. This is a switch which senses when the lens is set to it's minimum aperture. Looking at the camera body, with the lens removed, it's at about the eight o' clock position on the outer edge of the body lens mounting flange.

1. is easily fixed:just fit the lens correctly. 2. Really needs a professional repair, but as you can get a used F60 (N60 in USA) for free these days (FreeCycle/Freegle) it's not worth doing: just fasten it permanently in the "activated" position. Do a bit of googling and you'll see what I mean.

I hope this has solved your problem, if so please rate my answer.

How to install fisheye lens and adapter on kodak dx6490. Do I have to remove existing AF lens

No, you do not remove the existing lens. You need to purchase a lens adapter tube that fits around the existing lense. This adapter threads onto the inside bezel on the camera at the base of the lens assembly. Additional converter lenses and filters fit onto this. My adapter has 55mm threading for filters.

Dimage Z1 lens stuck

With the camera turned on and the lens extended gently bend the lens outward in three places and the lens assembly will come off. This allows access to the zoom assembly which is probably the part that is rattling as it slides the back lens along its shaft. You may want to let a professional do this for you. After you find the problem reverse the procedure to reattach it.
