Pt 53wx53g removed ic's still getting three blinking lights. Was told to replace horizontal output ic. Did so. Still having the same problem.
Three blinks is short protection.
97% of the time it means one or more of the 2.2 ohm blue resistors around the two convergence IC's is OPEN.
There should be 8 or 10 of them: light blue in color and will have 2.2 printed on them ------look for any that are slightly discolored or white in the middle.
What happens here is if one opens====one of the two convergence chips got it----they can be tested in place like testing a fuse===no reading across any of them and it is gone-----set detects no voltage reaching the chips(Usually STK-392-110---black in color and on metal heat sinks with fins side by side.)
DO NOT JUST REPLACE THE RESISTOR IF YOU FIND ONE BAD=ONE OF THE CHIPS GOT IT.
I have start to finish, step by step instructions showing what is needed and the best way to replace the chips etc.
FIRST: LOOK TO SEE IF any OF THE RESISTORS ARE GONE. (BAD)
If you want the instructions let me know and I will post them here for you.

FYI= Whoever told you to replace the output transistor does clearly not know these sets very well as it will produce a 5 blink error code.
Testimonial: "I already replaced all of the resistors with new ones. I have new convergence ic's. Still comes on for 2 seconds then shuts off.Any other suggestions?"

Is there anything else I can do? I wasted my money replacing the horizontal ic. I am still getting the 3 blinking lights. I also replaced the resistors. they are reading at 2.3 though.
Sorry about the testimonial. The funny thing is, I didn't accept the solution but when I checked today it was accepted and he had 4 thumbs up. Must have done it himself.
