If the errors seem random and incorrect then I would suspect the controller board as being bad. The part number for it is 99001232, looks like it may be hard to find in stock, may be a special order item.
The board will cost you about $200 and shouldn't be too hard to replace. But like I said, I had a hard time finding a website with it in stock. If the machine is mechanically sound as you have stated then it might be worth a shot.
BUT! If you scrap this machine and buy a new one you end up with a better, more modern, machine. Plus it will be under warranty, plus I would consider the extended warranty on something like this.
It all depends what you can afford at this time. Personnaly if I had the money I would buy a newer machine. 10 years is a good run.

Hi,
I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

The machine is about 10 years old. Is it worthwhile to replace the board or is this just the beginning of the end?
