LCD screen Black - manual Zoom not working

Hello, My Canon Powershot A630 camera worked fine yesterday. I uploaded my pictures - turned off the camera. When I went to put the Memory card back in and turned on..the LCD screen was black and the zoom lens stopped working. When I shut it off the zooms does retract but not manually.
I shot some more pictures with a black screen which were uploaded and they all came up on Iphoto. I even recharged the batteries but the screen and zoom are gone. Is this worth the repair? I love my camera.
Any suggestions?

Camera's screen is black, but still takes pictures.

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, try pressing the DISP button once with the camera turned on.

There is a display button on the back, you may have inadvertently shut off the lcd. Cycle the button to check.

Canon A630 screen black

Turns out my husband must have pressed a button by accident. The bottom left button says "disp" for display. Pressing that fixed the screen!

Canun digital camera powershot A630 lcd screen blank

I also cracked my Canon Powershot A630 lcd screen by dropping the camera. I saw a suggestion to buy a new replacement lens and either have it professionally replaced or try it myself. I ended up doing the replacement myself following instructions I found online. Now it works. Total cost US $63.

I would not recommend trying the replacement yourself, however. There are a few very delicate plastic parts in there which I ended up damaging. Luckily the camera and lcd screen are working great now. But it is probably worth having a professional camera repair shop do the whole job or insert the screen you've purchased. Good luck!

Blank screen

Did you accidentally hit the lower left "Display" button on the back of your camera? It manually turns the screen on or off to save batteries. Turn the camera on and press it once to check.
