That scanner dates back to 1987, so chances are that the battery pack is well beyond charging. I found a new battery pack here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/WALKIE-TALKIE-BATTERY-UNIDEN-RADIO-BC100XLT-BC200XLT-/310272646372?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483db0dce4
but it will set you back more than $90. Another option is to open/dismantle the battery back and use a battery insert. You can purchase one for $12.95 here: http://www.batterybarn.com/jbbt049.htm
The original battery is rated at 7.2VDC, but the charging circuit is set up for 12VDC at 500mA, so stay with your 12 volt charger.

I NEED SCANNER CODES?

It depends on your location. Try this link http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db

You will also need to know if your state and city switched to digital.
If not then it should work fine, but if they did you will need a new scanner because you have an analog scanner. There is a big push to switch over to digital radios in police, firefighter, military because it's more secure to use.

Where can I get a manual for my Uniden 2 way radios?

Which model of 2-way radio do you have? Uniden has some manuals on the product pages. Start here: http://www.uniden.com/products/productlisting.cfm?cat=Family%20Radios for the list of consumer 2-way radios. I know that the manual for the GMR1636-2C is on the site. However, the manual for the GMR5099-2CKHS isn't yet available there. An easier to check list of manuals is here: http://www.uniden.com/index/manuals_results.cfm?cat=25 . Retrevo has a few others listed here: http://www.retrevo.com/samples/Uniden-2-way-Radio-manuals.html . (Click on the model number to see the link. You will need to enter a code to access the file from that Download button.)

I hope this helps.

Need to know where to find manual for a scanner

You didn't list a model number for me to research, but if the manual for your Uniden scanner is available for a free download it should be listed here:

Uniden bearcat bc100xlt Can you use regular batteries with this radio ?

If you open the 7.2 volt battery pack you'll find 6 AA NiCad batteries. If you're even a little bit handy you can "rebuild" the pack with 6 new NiCad or NiMH batteries -- a save a big chunk of the $80 that suppliers want for a new pack.

I have a uniden bearcat hand held scanner sportcat, which for some reason has lost its memory, is there any way to program it

You didn't specify the model number of your scanner, so here's a link to a list of available Uniden scanner manuals. If your model number is listed, just click on the "Product Details" column to download/print the manual. It will provide detailed programming instructions.

Igot a used Uniden bc100xlt scanner and no manual and cannot rece

Go to uniden's website for literature or call small electronics shops for repairs...Most wont work on those units as they are too old. I have a uniden BC100XLT from 1988. I had to buy another one off ebay for parts. Also look for info on the BC200XLT as it was an almost identical model. Finally the batteries corrode and certain transistor pop in these early models, check the battery first. open it up and make sure the wires are still connected to battery.
