Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. The yellow line is usually a resul of iron particulate in the water the machine uses. There are a few thing you can try to clean the machine.

You will not find this one in any manual.

Put one cup of bleach and 1/4 th cup "dishwashing powder" straight into the tub and run an empty or "cleaning rags cycle" with HOT water. You can add the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon or use lemon concentrate also with that. You may initially have to do this for 2 to 3 cycles to get rid of the iron deposits. After that you should use one of the products below before returning to reugular wash cycles.

There are other producs out there that you should use per their directions once a month.

and http://www.tide.com/en-US/product/tide-washing-machine-cleaner.jspx

Also make sure you using HE washing machine detergents vs regular washing machine detergent. Here is just one example:

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

My Wash smells musty

In most Owner's Guides for front load machines, manufacturer's will advise to keep the door open after almost every cycle to help evaporate the water in the unit. Also to clean the rubber door seal with bleach water. To get rid of the smell there are solutions on the market that you can throw into the tub when you are not washing clothes and run a hot cycle. You can also use bleach, white vinegar and lime juice as an alternative. Then run a hot cycle. Do this about every 2 weeks, and keep your door cracked.

Smells like old smelly socks

this might be coming from the rubber door seal clean it all the way round make sure holes at bottom are not blocked and the rubber door seal is all clean. also clean the draw so there is no power left in there and it is all clean. also a good thing to do is run it though a cleaning cycle with normal detergent at max temperature that the machine can do. hope this helps.

There is a moldy smell....I have ran a load with no clothes and just bleach and it smelled ok for a week and now smells again

The odor that you are experiencing may be from the growth of mold. Inside the washer, some small pools of water may be left standing and is harboring mold spores. Even though you may operate the washer regularly, the mold spores are not being washed away.I have a couple of tips that might help to eliminate odor issues in your washing machine. First, and the most effective in my research is to, leave the lid, or door to the unit open. By leaving the door open, it promotes air circulation and evaporation of standing water. The reduction in odor, will occur quickly and dramatically.

My second tip is to run the washer empty for a quick rinse cycle. Add an entire cup of bleach at the start of the cycle. The bleach is effective at destroying organisms, such as mold and bacteria. However, running it once will not be completely effective. I suggest pouring another cup of bleach into the wash tub/basket, after the cycle has completed. This will leave bleach as the standing pool and should prevent the growth of mold or bacteria. However, if you do this, before doing a load of laundry you should run an empty rinse cycle again, to avoid damage to the clothes from the bleach left standing in the wash tub.

Sewer smelling towels!!! Towels are the worst, other clothes are not great, but not as bad. For the past year I have endured this horrible smell. I've just had it!!! I have done the clorox washings many...

Put a cup of powdered dishwashing detergent in the barrel ie. Sunlight or Palmolive. Place 1 cup of bleach in the soap dispenser. Run on a quick cycle with HOT/HOT and run complete cycle. This does help and don't forget to clean the filter on the lower part of the unit.

The machine smells moldy...

moldy smell, may not be mold at all, in fact most "moldy musty" smells actually come from user not using proper detergents, you NEED to be using an HE detergent and little amounts of that even. cut back on fabric \softneer if using, www.affresh.com new product to help alleviate this issue

Smell coming from washing machine

IMPORTANT: Read thoroughly. DO NOT add detergent or other laundry products to this cycle.
1. Remove all items from the washer.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and 2/3 cup (160 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. DO NOT use more than 2/3 cup (160mL) of bleach per cycle as this will lead to product damage.
3. Close the washer door and dispenser drawer.
4. Select the Clean Washer cycle or a full wash cotton 104 F wash (40 C). DO NOT use any higher temperature as this will cause unnecessary fumes
5. Press Start and allow cycle to complete.
6. If the bad odour persists, repeat the procedure 1 or 2 more times. This may be necessary if this is the first time you have run this cycle.
7. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open slightly to allow ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
8. Repeat the cleaning procedure monthly.
To maintain the washer freshness:
1. Use only HE High Efficiency detergent.
2. Leave the door open after each cycle to for better ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
3. Use warm / hot water in your machine unless the fabric you are washing requires cold.
4. Use the correct amount of fabric softener.
5. If your laundry room is damp, use a dehumidifier.
6. Clean the door seal of visible residue.
