I lost the remote and inadvertently reset the tuning - found the remote and am having problems trying to reset the tuning. I get to the preset section but do not know how to save the channel.
Have no idea how I did it but I solved the problem - all I need to do now is work out how to set the AV channel so that I can play the DVD through the TV - all in good time!!!!

Have you tried retuning the TV? You may need to do a Full Factory Reset tuning rather than just a rescan.
Rescan simply looks at the place holders where the old channels were stored and refreshes them. A Factory Reset (A.K.A. Shipping Condition) wipes the channel memories and starts again fresh.
To restore missing channels, you need to retune your digital receiver (box or TV).
The
retuning process runs a scan and finds all the available channels. Your
box may have an Add New Channels option that you can use, but this may
not pick up other changes such as channels being moved to a different
multiplex or removed altogether. How to retune
Switch on your digital box and/or TV.
Press Menu on the remote control.
Select the Setup or Installation option.
Select the 'First time installation' option (sometimes called 'Factory reset', 'Full retune' or 'Default settings').
Press OK if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry, this is normal.
If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
Channels will be automatically installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart.
After retuning, you will have to redo your Favourites list and other
settings. If you retune a digital TV recorder, you also should reset
future recordings.
Hi,Does the icon look like a large satellite dish? Make sure your TV is on "TV" and not "DTV" before retuning.
To re-tune analogue channels:
I have a Samsung TV and that icon is not accessible from the menu if i am watching the tv on the digital option of my remote. You have to switch your tv to the "tv" option on your remote and you will be able to access the icon from your menu. (on your remote, you should have a button with TV/DTV on it)
To re-tune analogue channels, if you want to re-tune digital channels, then look for the "D MENU" button on your remote. Press this then scroll down to the icon that looks like a large satellite and then on "Auto Store" This will re-tune your digital channels :0)
You can only access auto tuning by going through the digital menu via information button on remote. Pressing the menu button only brings up analogue set up.
I also have the Sony IDTV KD-28DX4OU Digital TV.After the digital switchover I lost BBC1 and BBC2 despite retuning three times.
I contacted Digital switchover people (useless) and they passed the buck to Sony.I contacted Sony and they said they cannot fix the problem and that I should get a digital set top box. So the £650 I spent on integrated Digital TV has been wasted. If like me your cheesed off with this then I suggest you complain here

When installing a new antenna, a TV will often need retuning in order to operate with the new antenna.
Using your remote, access the TV's menu (settings as oppose to TV guide) and you should be able to access a tuning menu, this may be located in Picture, or have its own section.
Select the setting for automatic tuning and you should find that the TV uses the new antenna to find its channels.
Press the [i+] button on the remote control to display the DIGITAL INFO menu.
Press the BLUE button to display the MAIN MENU.
Press the UP or DOWN buttons to highlight AUTO TUNING then press the OK button to display the AUTO TUNING MENU.
Press the RED button to start the auto tuning process for all available digital channels.
Wait for the process to complete.
If you wish to CANCEL the auto tuning process whilst it is processing then press the BLUE button at any time. You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information http://www.freeview.co.uk/_retuneinfo/
