My Acer Aspire 3000 does not recognize my wireless network anymore. It says it cannot find any networks - I verified that the network is ok. The device manager says the device is working properly. I went back to an earlier system restore point and now it gets stuck trying to obtain the network address. Is there a way to diagnose if the card went south?

Check in the bottom right hand corner for another program that might be accessing the wireless hardware. Belkin (for example) often have their own connecting software that conflicts with the windows version.

I'm having the same problem with my Acer Aspire 3000, it will no longer detect my wireless router. I have never had a problem like this in the last 5 years while in my home with my laptop. I tried restarting the laptop, unplugging and plugging the router, i made sure that the wireless switch on the laptop is on, and especially made sure there were no programs on the bottom right hand corner accessing the router. I tried waiting it out but the problem remains. Is the laptop going bad?

I just used recovery disk to restore back to factory setting for acer aspire 7741Z. Now it won't recognize my wireless router

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Just got aspire 3000 .How do I turn on the wireless capeability

The wireless feature (Wireless LAN) on an Acer notebook allows you to connect to available networks. This convenience allows you to use the Internet with network cables, modems or network installation. Acer laptops come with a wireless switch to turn the wireless feature on or off. Once you enable the wireless feature, your Acer notebook can connect to wireless networks within range.

Follow these Instructions

Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

I have an acer aspire 3000... which has been "fixed" by a friend, i have no idea what has or hasn't been done in order to "fix" the notebook, however, i have not even the option for a wireless internet...

Look for an ON/OFF switch on the laptop, to enable/disable the built-in wireless.

Also:
Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Classic View
Click System
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Click the '+' on the 'Network Devices' branch of the tree, to see if the wireless adapter is listed.
Double-click the wireless adapter, and click 'Reinstall Drivers'.
