I cant seem to get my factory alarm to reset on my 1996 toyota corolla. i tried unhooking battiery, and i tried to turn ket 5 times from off to run but not to start . i tried putting key in door then lock...

If you have a push button key or remote try locking it then unlocking it. If that isn't applicable try using the key on all the locks on the outside of the car, do the same, lock then unlock all the locks including the trunk. How long did you leave the cables off the battery. And did you pull both cables off or just one? Security systems sometimes had circuits that ground out separately and had large capacitors capable of sustaining power along with the Safety Restraint System for a matter of minutes. Sometimes computers won't reset until after 20-30 minutes with no power.
I am also assuming your issue is that the alarm is gong off and that you are not having a security light on the dash, with a no start issue, or an issue with the security code for the radio.

Why doesnt truck show trouble code or engine light and not start aftr sitting all day?

I would have a load test done on the battery/s as you may have a failing cell. Remove battery terminals and clean both posts and terminals with sandpaper until you see shiny metal. The black coating is lead sulphate which has a high resistance to
current flow both into and out of the battery.

What is engine code 58 for on a 1992 buick lesabre and how do I fix it

A lot of the time with the older lesabres the starter will go out and it will throw a code 58 (security fuel enable circuit). I have heard of a few other people with this exact same problem. They changed a bunch of sensors and still nothing, changed the started and the car ran fine.

Before replacing the starter tho, I would unhook the battery and let it sit for a few minutes, then rehook it. The computer for some reason may need reprogrammed. Especially if the battery has been unhooked recently.

Moved into a house with a Ranger 8980E security system that we have done nothing with for 4 years without a problem - don't have any codes or info. Last night the keypanel in our bedroom started chirping...

that system is obsolete. the battiery is located in the control panel. most control panels are located in a closet next to the att crawel hole or in the att near the crawl hole. find the panel and if you are not going to use it pull the battiery and disconnect the ac transformer. option 2 find a local company and have them up grade your system.
